For me, Juventus's purchase mercato this summer is a faliure. At least untill this point.
Entering this mercato we had two main objectives:

1- Strengthening our starting XI for the 3-5-2 or other formations.
2- Buying important players in positions we need that will allow us to be verstile and change formations.

We failed at both.

We didn't get any player to improve our starting 11 in the 3-5-2. (Cuadrado, Cavani, Hummels, Marcelo).
And we didn't get any player in positions we need to be able to change formations (Isco, Cuadrado, Sanchez, Iturbe).

The only positive thing in this mercato, in my eyes, is the Evra deal, since he will improve us a little bit in the 3-5-2, and is a player that can allow us to change somewhat to a back 4. Evra deal actually fullfills partly our objectives.

Point one is very difficult to do in our financial situation. Point two is fair, although I'd disagree with an overall failure as Evra allows a back four, and Pereyra and Coman (with Pepe returning) allow different attacking variations. Signing someone like Iturbe on the other hand would show that we trust using something like a 4-3-3, whereas the players we signed can (just about) fit into a 3-5-2.

I agree. I never said it was easy to improve the 3-5-2, actually I think its very hard. I also never said those names I mentioned are availabe of affordable. I just mentioned some random names that would actually improve our 3-5-2. In an ideal world we would have those players.

As for the depth, its defenetly another objective. Almost in every mercato. That's why I said two "main" objectives. For me depth is 3rd rate objective in this mercato.

With who ? I don't see morata as better than llorente. Peryera and Romulo are defenetly not better than Vidal\Pogba or Stephan ? only vailed argument is regarding Evra witch I already mentioned.

Also none of the players we brought (except evra) allows us to change formation effectivley. We didn't get any real wingers or attacking midfielders or TQs. Im not counting Coman since we don't even know what part will he take.

I agree that point one is hard, very hard, as I said. But not impossible. Instead of Morata for 20m, we could have gone for another player that will actually improve the starting XI.

No CM in the world is better then Vidal/Pogba

Evra is the left back we needed.

We are laying the foundations to go wingerbased, but arent taking financial risks cause we got a new coach. But if Coman explodes on the wing, we could switch to a wing based formation with Pepe or Pereyra, who have shown good things. Both are excellent stand in wingers, but also enable us to go wingbased immediatly should Coman explode.

Llorente is an excellent player. We dont need an even better one, we needed a young substitute

No love for Romulo. He's a player that will really come in handy and improve us for sure. Even in a 3-5-2 he would offer us much more attacking options/ less predictability down the right.

Just go for 3412, it's easy and not a problem.
And even not necessary to play 3412 each time - just have an option. It's much easier that 433.

Definitely think this transfer window is a failure unless we sign that "explosive winger" who can give us a bit more of an edge in Europe but other than Shaqiri it doesn't seem like there are too many available. Lavezzi for instance would be a good player like Tevez but he is past his best and won't be a difference maker, I have no idea why we didn't try for Greizmann!? Young player with plenty of potential, we're a bigger club than Atletico and surely we could have afforded 20mil?

Think Lavezzi could give us 2-3 years of quality football, not like players just die at 30 and he looked quite good at the WC. Not to mention we have some young wingers with potential (Berardi, Coman) and would be better off with someone with proven quality. Not saying Griezmann couldn't step right in but Lavezzi seems a realistic target and would be very happy with him. He can also put in work as a wide mid in a 3142 or something and provide great service down the flanks.

3-4-1-2 is worse then a 3-5-2. We don't have many players who can play wider and why would we drop our 3 man trio to play a cam which we wont get?

3412 doesn't need any wider players then 352. It's just about configuration in central midfield.
Why? Because 3412 is faster and more attacking than 352.
3412 brings creativity and speed, and also we don't have to destroy stability of 3/5man defense gained during years with Conte.
Just compare Mazzari's Napoli and LVG's MU and Holland (attacking play) with our games last season

Also it the perfect answer for Question "What to do without Pirlo" - just add another creative player in the middle!
They can play together (Vidal-Pirlo + Trequartista) or alone (usual 352 or Vidal-Pogba + Tq).

Our current team is excellent. It should easely have made QF CL last year and it can easely do that this year, there is no need to make a risky investment with the new coach after conte gave us the finger.

We gave our team the important depth and options it needed, and got players with big potential like Coman

Pogba doesnt has the qualities to be a cam, but is and should continue to be, a fantastic cm

not saying an every day CAM, but something to offer a different approach...don't see us getting too far from what has worked so well the past 3 seasons obviously

Correction, Yaya Toure has been better than both for at least 2 seasons.

Coman "exploding" is a shot in the dark. We still don't know how much talented he really is. Everyone is expecting another Pogba, i find it hard to happen. We'll see.

I wonder what you would say if when next season comes, we still don't spend on big names/top players of today.

Llorente is great. He will do even better this season now that he's back in form.

Nothing wrong with versatility, Asamoah has been a great LWB/LM for us but still has the capability to cover centrally...
