I don't know how anyone can watch the games and conclude that Pirlo isn't severely troubled by pace and aggression.

It's just a fact at this point. He is still a top class player with the ball at his feet but football is changing more and more into a total football type game. Just the number of teams that play a sole regista is rare, let alone one that can do nothing defensively.

Pirlo is still a no doubt starter in most Serie A matches but we have to start progressing away from him to see what else our team has to offer.

I really see no downside in having Pogba playing that position in the future. You will lose some of the killer passes but Pogba can do everything else required. Just his aerial ability on opposing goal kicks is immediately noticeable when he's in the middle of the pitch.

IMO Pirlo´s flaw is that he takes his time to see where he will do that killer pass. But peeps nowadays doesnt even let him think about it. Soon, he is involved in a physical hustle with one or 2 players and he is noteven aware of it. Mids come from behind and crash onto him with a shoulder hustle... thats all they ned to complicate his life.
