His wage would have increased over the years as our financial situation is substantially better now. And that was the plan. We player on our image while he was lured with the immediate money to EPL. Can't see how Marotta failed there.

Whattt?
Mmmmm..... Fuck Dzeko :shifty:

We definitely don't need a lanky cumbersome forward with zero creativity at this point in time; him and Llorente would be a horrible duo. Tevez or JoJo it is.

So what do you think the starting point for those wages would be? If he was earning 6m, wed have to at least match that as a bare minimum. As for the failure on the deal, we could've acted a little faster on that deal, but it seems we were holding out for 40m instead of 45m. It may not have been true, but anyway, this discussion was borne of Nzoric saying that he would be against Tevez coming here at 7m a season as it is not feasible for our team structure and finances. And Marrotta is good for us coz he won't offer those wages. I was just pointing out that those are exactly the kind of wages Beppe was offering both RvP and Aguero early on in this so called "new financial cycle" before those deals went south.

You forgot his goalscoring abilities given into consideration the time he spends on the pitch. And he's great for NT as well. Bosnia is rocking hard in qualifications at the moment. But okay we have Llorente so no point in bringing him. They couldn't coexist.

Was he earning that much in Atletico? It seems quite a sum for them. I don't believe we went over 5M in wages for him at that time. And no way we would have payed 40M for him. He didn't go to City because of 5M difference. It's just silly. 25-30 at most was our offer. We never had a chance in that deal.

I don't like players like Dzeko. I never liked Inzaghi either, and his scoring record was impeccable. Trezeguet is an exceptional case.

Ideally, I'd love Suarez, but since that is highly unrealistic, target JoJo or Tevez, and pray that a couple of our attackers in the youth setup are good enough to make the grade in a few years.

I have strong hopes for Gabbiadini. He looks very very promising.

Yea, he was earning 6m at Ath. Madrid. So you're saying we had him interested for over a month by offering him 1m less than what he was on. In order to make the jump to a team that wasn't in the CL, was playing in Italy in a weaker league and wasn't even a domestic champ at the time. Again, I disagree. But for what it's worth, you and Nzoric also disagree since according to him, we can only offer 4.5m in wages as a salary cap. There were a lot of numbers as far as the transfer fee was concerned. Some said 30m plus Sissoko/some other player, some said 40m. But it didn't really matter coz City paid his buyout clause.

Chasing him over a month? Media were writing about it for that long but I don't believe we chased him all that time. We had other objectives as well. It's not like we were just chasing one player and disregarded other potential transfers. But never mind him we'll see how this summer turns out to be. Just don't blame Marotta if some crazy rich sheikh offers ridiculous amounts for a certain player who we wanted to sign. We won't offer more than 20-25 in cash for a single player. Not yet.
You know for sure he earned 6M in Atletico? Back it up with some link. It seems too much for me.

It was a world cup year so talks would've have to have dragged a bit. If you read my posts you'll see that I'm not asking for Marrotta to take on the sheikhs in a bidding war. Just like I'd like him to fight for a player within reason, instead of walking away. And yes, Aguero was earning 6m at AtM. Maybe even 6.5. Can't be arsed with finding a link, but take my word for it, :)

despair... :sergio:
oil clubs pretty much $#@!ed up everything
Yep. Whatever happened to financial fair play.

If its true we're on the verge (yet again) of missing out on a world class forward, then the cashing in on Marchisio option really does begin to look appealing. Especially considering we have Asamoah who is by far a better CM than LWB. Having Zuniga for that position will cover us well. Marotta seems obsessed with bargain hunting but when it comes to strikers, its a whole lot harder to find one.

Never mind I found it. He was indeed earning 6.5M. I think in that case we never got a nod from him. Media writing about it that long? Well they like to make stories. I'm pretty sure we got rejected in the beginning so any stories from that point were not true.

You're right, we didn't get a nod from him. Only a smile. :D ;)
