"Fiorentina is a great team, we can achieve qualification for European cups," Jovetic told Corriere dello Sport.

"Juventus is the best Italian team. Pirlo and Vucinic are two stars."

Jovetic also said that he is targeting long-term success with Fiorentina, despite being linked with a move to Manchester City during the previous transfer window.

"I'm happy to be in Firenze," he said. "Now I'm not thinking about a transfer.

"Manchester City want me? I know nothing," he added.

Juve set for David Villa loan?

Juventus are reportedly in talks with Barcelona to take David Villa on loan for six months in January.

The Bianconeri are looking for a ‘top player’ to strengthen their front line and have been linked with numerous options, including Didier Drogba, Athletic Bilbao outcast Fernando Llorente and even Celtic’s Gary Hooper.

According to Sky Sport Italia this evening, talks have begun with Barcelona to sign Villa on a six-month loan deal.

It is claimed the Catalans would be prepared to release the World Cup winner and even pay a portion of his wages.

Villa just turned 31 and has not found his form since returning from eight months out with a fractured tibia.

He made his comeback in August, but has barely featured for Barça, so a loan to Juventus would give him an opportunity to play more regularly.

However, the problem with the transfer is that Villa would not be available to play in the Champions League.
Here's a better idea. Sign Villa in the summer with a gentlemans agreement that we let Barca take lead in the negotiations of llorente if they are really that interested, and sign Drogba in the meantime to take us through the CL

Signing David Villa is a good move if Juve still think he has the ability to play at a high level for another couple of years or so.

However, if it is just a six-month loan, it would be foolish to go for him if there are good options available who can play in the CL.

I haven't really seen him since his injury, so don't know what sort of shape he's in.

Confidence and optimism and fanatical support are always welcome...but to think we could seriously challenge Barca in a race for Llorente's signature is worth a smile, but little else. We are on our way back to becoming a domestic powerhouse and handy unit in Europe, but that compares still, less than favourably, with one of the best teams of not only modern times, but perhaps of history...
