Papers have linked us to Jovetic again.....also Berbatov is being linked as well.

Looks like desperation from Marotta. Sometimes, you just need to overpay.....yes perhaps their market values are 10m more than what you think they are worth....but we REALLY need a top forward. Its like we REALLY don't need to sell Lichsteiner.....so people should pay 10m more than what he is worth to get him.

Just deal with it...spend 30m and get Dzeko or Jovetic already. I would rather spend 10m more than what they are worth than wast 20m on an average player who we will try to sell in a few years time for less than 10m who didn't contribute much.

Sometimes spending less per player on a lot of players is WAY more risky in the end. Quagliarella and Matri are a case in point.

Jo-jo wont come this year. Berbatov is not our type of striker.

I don't think city will let Dzeko leave at the start of the season.

Not much options left.

People actually think we'd be able to sell Dzeko for anything above 20 m let alone anything near 30 mil in a few years from now are simply delusional... It would be a waste as well.

The ONLY striker worth overpaying that much is Jovetic, because his value simply won't drop that much in 3-4 years time...

Why not go all out and sign Falcao? Can't do much better than him and since we are getting desperate to the point of 30+m Dzeko/5+m Berbatov bids in the last days of our market spending 40m on Falcao won't be unreasonable at all. Do we have the money though?

IN
Falcao - 45m
OUT
Quag/Matri - 8-10m
Lichtsteiner - 15m

Around 20m to pay. And we can do that on 2nd/3rd installment. Falcao will cover us in the next 5 years. One of the forward spots will be filled to the point where we can forget about it as an issue - and that is something we desperately need.

And the best thing is that jo-jo isn't a STRIKER at all!

He might not be a pure out and out striker, but do you have any doubts he can outscore Matri in this current team?
Not to mention the element where he can drop deep/rotate and make a pairing of him and another potent striker(Vucinic) unpredictable... therefore much more dangerous.
I agree with the lad that JoJo might be one of the best options on this current market. A player that we won't overspend on and if he doesn't fit this team (2-5% chance imho) and cement his key status we would be able to get our investment in him back. His only flipside really is Giovinco. Giovinco is an SS that doesn't have the power to go to the CF spot. He can't form the partnership I would like to see JoJo in, but I might be wrong as I've been many times before...

Valencia prepare an offer of €7m for Cissokho according to L'Equipe.

OL could accept it but are waiting if Juventus would make a counter offer.

He isnt that good anyways..

I am still hoping we bid for Armero..€6m on co-own should be doable and Udinese will accept it.
Cissokho? Meh, never lived up to his expectations after he left Porto.

Armero would be OK, he's a bit overrated around here. But at this point I would keep Lichtsteiner at all costs and sign a striker. We have good options for the left and it doesnt seem like we can spend a lot more. Llorente or KJH and be done with it.

Pro Vercelli-Decisive day for Tiribocchi :touched:

Sources from England:Berbatov poised between Juventus and Fiorentina

Though Berbatov is seen more as an alternative if we fail to capture Llorente.

Yes he is. The same way Van Persie was back then. He can easily play in a 2-man attack. He's an attacker but he can do more than only shoot towards the goal. If that excludes him from being a number 9 in you opinion. So be it.

vPersie? really? vPersie isn't a natural striker at all, no need to bring him up here. and no he isn't. He is an attacking player indeed but he's a 10 and for a nr9 we need a goalscoring machine. According to you even Pirlo can be a 9 because he can do more then shooting towards the goal? You do know a striker's task is to score goals right?

 :howler: Let's scroll down to name 35 on the list of alternatives. I wonder who that is :D

Like Catenaccio said, sometimes it pays to overpay. We can't always negotiate on our terms, otherwise you might end up with shit, and be stuck with it. Not every transfer turns out to be like Vidal.

A part of me still wished we'd left Giovinco for some other club and acquired Jovetic.
