De vrij is called the new stam
please no dutch defenders. They became extinct when stam retired
I'm sorry Janna but hyping someone to "be the new X" is old and boring, its not an argument

Stam was fantastic as anticipating centreback, and by lightyears the best central defender i ever saw play for holland.

defenders at 19, in holland, it means nothing i'm afraid. the mental abilities develop over time, so it can go all directions.

Look at kompany, wonder at anderlecht, average in germany, then totally exploded at city.

you know why people rated him at 18 ? technical skills

You know what he rarely shows ?those skills, instead he got massively good in just about everything a defender can

Here in Brazil players worthy of being scouted:

right now the best player of the championship is Bernard, 20, of Atletico Mineiro. He'll be in the next NT squad. Very good. Diminutive, offensive LW. Quick, smart, can shoot with both feet, agressive, has dribbling. Very very good.

Other very young and promising players: Doria (17yr old, cb, Botafogo), Jadson (box-to-box dm, 19yr old, quick and techinical), Fernando (19 yr old all around midfielder from Gremio), Ademilson (18 yr old striker from Sao Paulo), Marcos Jr (19 yr old offensive winger/striker, similar to Inisgne), Higor (19yr old AMF from Fluminense - similar style to Juninho Pernambucano - this kid will be HUGE), Adryan and Mattheus of Flamengo (18yr AMF), Marcos Rocha (23 yr old, RWB/rb, the best full back of the championship by a mile), Rever (Atletico Mineiro, CB, 25), Toloi (20yr commanding CB from Sao Paulo), Rhodolfo (24 yr CB from Sao Paulo), Victor Andrade (16 yr striker from Santos). And Wallace from Fluminense. And these kids have no hype on them. Just yet.
what is your opinion about Lucas Moura ?

the new stam was just to joke with andy
no one called him like that as mister ajax fan Pat said
but I don't look at technical skills in a defender I look at position and strenght, and positioning. and with de Vrij that is pretty good specially for a young boy.

as I said before Stam was till 22-24 nothing special too in Holland and now he is known as one of the best ever from Holland.

:shifty: and more strength?

if it was a joke why did you dismiss my initial comment by laughing it off?

don't use 'It was a joke' as an excuse when stating something that has no foundations for a debate

I mean position, strenght and tactical position. So offside trap, how to open up the play and be avabiale

Their wasn't really a discussion, since we have talked about this before when you were in Holland and in other talks :)

But the coach can't predict what's going to happen in the field, that's why player's ability to read the game and positioning is very important.

to an extent but the offside trap is also down to how the defenders communicate as a unit, 1 defender can attempt to play the offside trap whilst 1 or more doesn't leaving the one playing offside out of position. Again i think that is largely down to how effective the system the manager implements is rather than the actual player's ability.
