Marotta:

"I indeed deny any involvement or negotiation for David Villa. 'El Guaje' is a great player, but it is not the type of player we're looking for. We want a striker Edinson Cavani type or Fernando Llorente, who are our main objectives together with Edin Dzeko. None of us, therefore, was authorized to speak with representatives of Villa "
Such a social climber Beppe is, with all his name dropping. Will never learn. Why didn't he just say RVP , Benzema and Aguero while he was at it.

Oh wait, he already did that :D

Yeah, I bet Marotta said "El Guaje" during an interview just like that.

I was watching the Chelsea and Man Utd game today and honestly I was kinda jealous we don't have a guy like RVP or Torres in this team. We need that, ever since ADP went in decline we haven't had a classy striker like that. That's why a Dzeko type signing is kinda meh, the type of striker he is won't bring you the type of strikes a Torres or a RVP can. Kinda depressing.
RVP yeah but Torres is crap and way overrated. I would take a ADP with a walker over Torres.

Were not getting Cavani, Dzeko is only possible if city want jovetic with whom Fiorentina are trying hard to keep and bilbao are playing hard ball with llorente and rejected our 18 million plus bonuses:lol: deal. the only logical conclusion in Marotta's mind here is to make a panic buy I for one think this panic buy will be osvaldo

5 more days to end of transfer market, an we are short of a CF and a LWB. Still nowhere near to offloading our fringe players, Pacienza, Ziegler, Iaquinta, Martinez.
And to think that Padoin and Pepe would still continue to play on our shirt would be ridiculous as well. One of Quag and Matri should leave as well.
Lots of work for the Marotta and Paratici in this final week of transfer window. We still have both our non-EU spot available as well.

So if we had paid for getting Lucio, that would have made him a better signing?

Why are you comparing Bonucci with Marchisio, Vidal and Pirlo?

It was not Marotta's fault Secco paid his release clause, and as it has been said several times, no one in their right mind would pay double digits for him.
Barring some exceptions,(Pirlo) you mostly get what you pay for. Most of the free players are not reliable enough, the proven ones usually have fitness issues and a tendency to injuries, i dint want to mention that earlier, so that i wouldnt jinx Lucio, but just after one game, we have lost him for months...
Of course such a thing cannot be anticipated with any degree of certainty, but if you keep gambling, you increase the chances of drawing a sort stick...

What i am criticising here, is that we systematically invest on CMs and taking risks with our CBs
In the 3-5-2, we will use the same ammount of CMs and CBs, in every game, 3 for each line.

For this reason, the quality and the quantity are directly comparable.
Our midfield is arguably our strongest line.
We have very strong starters and they have formed a formidable union of high performance.
There is no reason to upset this balance with uneeded competion, so younger players who are close enough in quality and have the potential to reach there and even go beyond, all the while have the patience to sit on the best is the optimal choice.
Pogba was a really smar move. The boy felt that over there he had no opportunities to play, become better and proove his worth.
Here, he could do that, offering his services, in the rare occassion, one of the starters wouldnt be available, or had to be rested.

Signing useless guys like Padoin or Piazenza, who are not any better than him now, neither have the potential to be in the future,
all the while rotting at the bench at the most productive age of the carriers is counterprodusive.
I would like us to give more playing chances to Pogba and Maronne and since Padoin is here, we are covered by an eventual streak of injuries, at least untill x-mas.

Whilst on our rear guard, we do have a liability, called Bonucci and no other option.
Playing Caceres,Maronne or Licht as CB, is the same as playing Giovinco, Pepe and Giaccherini as CMs, its decent but still a compromise.
I am comparing the lines to point out, that the back line had weaker starter options, weaker performance and weaker sub options.
So they had to be given priority and not to be negletted. I m sure that Conte demanded that, but Marotta and whoever is controlling his hand, again has opted for a no investment, quick fix.

This happened for many consecutive seasons to be a coincidence, it is a pattern that is repeating it self and i disagree with it.
We have suffered enough from this issue imo, it is time to do smth about it!
It is a mistake to keep taking it lightly after all what happened! And yet we are keep risking...

This is what i am criticizing here. I recjon that great steps on the right direction where made though.
Barzagli and Lucio are definate upgrades, than the Legro and Knezevic we were signing, but the pattern and the general strategy is still present and for once we would like to see it changing, just once in a decade, after stacking up so many CMs, for so many years, we should invest on the defence for a change...

Asamoah is great as LWB, De Ceglie can be an adequate cover too.

And oh, I love Pepe, how would it be ridiculous to see him in our shirt?

Asamoah as a LWB would not convince me yet, as he had just one great game on the LWB role so far. He is brought in as a CM role and i feel he is being used on left at the moment due to De Ceglie's injury and there's no one else there.
It's ridiculous to have two mediocre players who actually does the same role, which is as a utility player, especially in 3-5-2 , Pepe has lesser chances to play at all.
It would be better to cash in on him when we have the chance.

One game? What about the preseason games as LWB?
And if you saw the last game closely PDC is not injured and actually came from the game at the last minutes :D

Pepe is one of our best players last season in 433 scheme, putting him at the same level of Pedoin is disgraceful.

Asamoah was a beast in supercoppa against trashtown too. So it's two matches already. I have no doubt he will do great there. For now he's our best summer transfer if you ask me.
