I am 100% sure we considered him and I also 100% sure his name would have come up when they were talking about Alex and Storari. Malouda is a class winger - even Marotta today admitted that "he is of interest to us".
Given Mata and Perreira's arrival at Chelsea, the club would have considered to sell Malouda.....but the key obstacle was always going to be the player himself. He makes 4m a year and has 2 years left on his contract. He is 31 and naturally would be looking for a longer term contract and perhaps Chelsea is not willing to offer him another year at that salary.

We even considered players such as Aguero, Rossi, Sanches, Dzeko, Benzema, Higuain, etc. That's not a problem. The problem is when you have a Sporting Director who thinks that you can only get these sort of players on Juve's terms only. Apart from the fact that it sounds insulting to the other clubs, it is just an excuse to cover his piss poor negotiating when dealing with top players.

Bastos' agent said that he could still come and there has been some talk of him still wanting to come to Juve. Apparently he didn't even renew his contract because he's waiting for a last minute move to Juve.

I can't help but think. We have signed Giaccherini and I am 90% sure we have Estigarribia on loan for EU500k with option to buy at 5m. We also have Pasquato. If we do indeed sign a player like Malouda or whoever (a top class winger)....then all of a sudden we are awash with wingers......Krasic, Pepe, Mr X (Malouda? Elia?), Estigarribia, Giaccherini, Pasquato. Thats 6 players for 2 positions - or 5 options for left wing (given that Pepe is also a left wing alternative)....and I haven't even mentioned Marchisio or Vucinic as makeshift options.
So I am at a loss here. My concern is that Pasquato leaves and Estigarribia and Giaccherini ARE our left wingers period. That would be worst case scenario in my opinion.
Best case scenario is, we do get our top class left winger (whoever that is) and I suspect that may mean that Pepe is the one that leaves.
I must say these 2 recent signings have me completely puzzled as to what Marotta is up to here.

Actually, we got a wage budged. thanks to italian tax systhem, its rather on the low side, alot lower then in the epl.

Zach, JJ posted a list of our expenditures in the past day or so, that included the loan redemptions from the deals struck last year (and did not include our most recent buys -Giac & Esti if true), and it was something like 76M spent, 14M earned from sales/loans. We have still spent a considerable amount of money, especially when you consider 3 of our new faces are Bosmans.
This is why teams hire coaches who are flexible enough to employ formations that largely complement the existing personnel, why it's important to allow youngsters to fill out a few roster spots, and why it's not a good idea to get rid of useful players for next to nothing.

So you think that justifies filling the squad with random average players? Marotta didn't have any problems signing the Martinez's and Pepe's and certainly not for cheap. You know why? Because there wasn't any interest from any other clubs and could negotiate his pathetic terms with them.

Best Juve solution the wage problem is CUT the number of players. Our squad is massive in size considering that we are only competing in Serie A.....our squad size is over 30. We really only need around 23 senior players with the rest being primavera.
By the way, reading reports about a potential Juve squad revolution...i.e Pepe & Bonucci sold to Zenit for Bruno Alves. Wingers would be Mr X (Malouda?), Estigarribia, Giaccherini, Krasic and Pasquato.
Estigarribia is from Paraguay....does he have an EU passport? I suspect not....that would rule out Alex or Bastos because Vidal takes up 1 of the 2 non-EU acquisitions.
