I am still not convinced that we have totally solved our defensive problem - which was by far our biggest problem last season. Lichsteiner is a good signing but Ziegler and De Ceglie are just average players. Bonucci will get better but he is not exactly what you would call world class - I would really like Juve to sign a world class center back. Milan have Thiago Silva, Mexes and Nesta; Inter have Ranocchia, Samuel, Chivu, and Lucio. To partner Chiellini we only have Bonucci and Barzagli who are pretty average in my view. Sorensen still a little too raw.

I hope these rumors about Ivanovic are true.

Signing Ivanovic and Bastos would improve our defensive options so much it's not even funny.

We could play:

Licht---Bonucci---Chiellini---Ziegler (Now)

Licht---Bonucci---Chiellini---Bastos (Ivanovic injured)

Licht---Bonucci---Ivanovic---Chiellini (No Bastos)

Strongest back 4: Licht---Ivanovic---Chiellini---Bastos (If someone else plays LM/LW)

Licht--Ivanovic---Chiellini---Ziegler (Bastos LM/LW - This will be main starting defense)

Ivanovic--Bonucci---Chiellini---Bastos (Licht Injured)

Licht--Ivanovic---Bonucci---Bastos (Chiellini injured)

Licht---Ivanovic---Bonucci---Ziegler (Chiellini injured #2)

Totally agree. But based on the rumors at least up to this point we are linked with strikers, central mids and maybe a left winger. I am not sure about the hold up on Bastos - perhaps Conte is not that keen on him (although this may have something to do with passport issues or price being concluded with Lyon).

I am not sure where this Ivanovic rumor came from because I haven't heard much about it. I think Juventus missed the boat on Zapata who was great over the last 2 seasons with Udinese. If it is true that we get Bastos and Ivanovic then I will be far less worried.

Also Ivanovic won't come cheap - he is worth close to 20m and Bastos will be worth around 13m.

My understanding was that Juve wanted to spend EU50m net (not including the deals for Matri, Quags, Pepe & Motta).

So if Juve bought Rossi, Ivanovic, Bastos, Vidal and Lichsteiner, Juve would have spent:

Rossi: ~30m
Ivanovic: ~20m
Bastos: ~13m
Vidal: ~15m
Lichst: 10m

Total gross spend of EU88m. Melo is probably worth at least 10m, Sissoko 7m, Amauri & Iaquinta both for 10m, Tiago 5m, Martinez 4-5m - plus the odd player to be sold here and there.

That would be EU50m net. BUT, if Juve ALSO wants Vucinic.....then I can't see it working out to that EU50m number.

I'm quite sure we have €70m to spend, with €10m gone on Licht. However I keep reading that Juve is waiting for the sales of Melo, Sissoko & Amauri etc to finance other deals. I hope we have €60m, but what it seems like is that we have €30-40m at the moment, then the other deals will finance Vidal and a LW/LM.

I'd say Ivanovic is about €15m, considering his age (27 or 28 I think).

Interesting in that Motta AND Grygera are for sale because I don't think Sorensen is a natural cover for right back. Unless Juve buy a central defender who is versatile and can play full back as well.
