So far, the following line up seems likely:

------------Buffon--------------
Licht-Bonucci-Chiellini-Ziegler
----Vidal/Melo--Pirlo----
Krasic----------------Bastos
------Matri---Quag/Rossi-----

SUBS: ADP, Toni, Iaquinta, Pepe, Martinez?, Pazienza, Marchisio, Barzagli, Grosso, De Ceglie, Grygera, Motta?, Sorensen, Manninger.

Not too shabby. I worry about the depth and Pirlo being marked out of the game in a 2 man midfield. If we went up against Napoli with that, we would get destroyed.

Bloody lions.

I'm pretty sure he's going to city. He said he wants to win trophies and to be honest, city are in a much better position than us to win trophies AT THE MOMENT, especially since they just won the FA cup.

Yeah Moggi as his great bargain buys, Buffon, Nedved, Thuram sooooo cheap, all hail Moggi.
Analogy is way off IZ. Look at what each of those guys became. They ran the show for us. Each a leader in their position. Someing Rossi will not be, and certainly not at the expense of Melo and 25m, which imo equates to 40m. An amount that Moggi never paid, even for the above mentioned stalwarts. And when you choose to be a little more objective, you'll see Zinedine Zidane. Mauro Camoranesi and Fabio Cannavaro. So I'd hail the fuck out of Luciano.

I know it's a rumor, but I seriously doubt that Chelsea would even look Melo's way in case they need a new DM. Both his short and long passing are inadequate for the task he is required to perform at Chelski.

Off the top of my head, Im pretty certain Nedved cost us 41m E when he came from Nazio.

True, although it's also worthless comparing the market to values from 10 years ago.
Maybe it is. But given the context of building the same team, then and now, I know the core we acquired then is and will perhaps continue to be ahead of what we pull off in today's scenario. Even if, I cut the directors some slack for Calciopoli, it cant be our excuse five years after, when the money is clearly there to pull off certain kind of purchases.

They are. I think 27m pounds, equating to 41m euros I think. Although, Nzoric, I hope you got the crux of the point.
Yeah I got it, and I agree. Rossi isn't as important to a team as Nedved (or the other signings in that pricerange) were - but with the inflation of prices, I think the realistic price for Rossi and his qualities is 30-35m E. My 2 cents anyways.

And then you add the transfer market at the time. The peerless Zidane moved for €48m, Moggi was dealing in high end stuff but that's what you can afford to do when you reach the top. I suppose IZ's point is that at that time Moggi was making a lot of these moves, and also some didn't come off. I'd say in that market €5m equates to about €10m now.

Also in this case, we need to be looking at player valuation with regards to the value they're bringing to the team, in perhaps a very difinitive season. On the field and off it.
