would love Fabregas here in january if Conte doesent plan to keep him. wed have 4 WC CMs in rotation again :tuttosport:
Over simplifying it a bit.

Could have 11 WC players and still have a shit midfield if they don't compliment each other. We don't play remotely fluid enough to accommodate these physical liabilities in midfield. Our entire playing style and mentality when it comes to games is the opposite of what you'd want with a Pjanic - Marchisio - Fabregas midfield.

And whilst Pjanic can be World class in a more suitable system, and Marchisio is indeed World class I wouldn't call Khedira World class at all. A very sensible and tactically astute player yes. But no way is his overall game 'World Class'. As a b2b mid he's not amongst the best, nowhere near it in my opinion. Not defensively anything to boast about and his offensive game is lacking barring his great runs which count for little with poor finishing. Not particularly creative either.

Too many pansies.

I'd gladly take Matic or Kante of Conte's hand, heck I'd let him choose for me even.

Rumors that Chelsea want to send Fabregas out on loan in January.

Not sure how credible they are, and Fabregas is just about the last type of player we'd need, but holy moly if that doesn't scream market opportunity nothing does
Fabregas could function well in our team but he can't play with Pjanic or Khedira, it would be a three man midfield with Marchisio, Fabregas and one of Sturaro/Lemina.

Can Fab play the treq position?
Yeah, it's not necessarily his best position but I might recall him even playing as a false nine in his Barcelona days at one point. People here don't realise that when he is performing he is an Özil level talent. He racked up like 21 assists and 5 goals in the season prior to the last, and the season before at Barca it was 13 assists and 9 goals. Last season the whole squad dropped off, but he still managed 8 assists and 6 goals. He is the same age as Higuain, as that he is at his prime/ a bit over and could easily have 5 years at the top if he evolves his game. It's not like he is defensively terrible either, and he is actually way better than Pjanic in that aspect too so I might even shift Pjanic as a trequartista.

He's not physical and someone to really complement Pjanic, but if we bring in someone else along with him (considering he would be a free loan) I don't see how we could lose at all by having him. If we play a 4-3-1-2 we could play both him and Pjanic, and we would have a really good alternative formation to the found out 3-5-2 if all works well.

Fabregas would be awesome here. But not being the only reinforcement. We definitely need some physical player like Witsel as well. But yea Fabregas would be awesome.

And also a step closer to 4-3-1-2. In fact our biggest problem for 4-3-1-2 is Cuadrado. He doesn't fit in that and you can't bench him in this form.

we need verratti. we need another muscle players. i mean look at our midfield.
abysmal.
Verratti + James would set this team perfectly going forward. (4-2-2-2)

--------------------Higuain-----Dybala----------------------------
----------Cuadrado--------------------James---------------------
-------------------Verratti--Marchisio-----------------------------
Sandro----Chiellini---------Bonucci----------------------Alves---

If that isn't fap worthy I don't know what is.

So let's say that in some parallel universe we get Veratti and James. Then, the best thing we can do is stick one in the wing and the other in a midfield 2?

4-2-2-2 isn't a system with wingers - it's called a wingerless formation! The attacking players come inside quite a bit. It is like a 4-2-3-1 but with the wingers pushing in, and the the striker pushing up. James plays that position for Colombia, and he's damn good at it. You end up putting Marchisio, Verratti, James, and Cuadrado in a midfield 4.
I'd say that it might be awkward for Cuadrado, but fortunately he plays this position with the national team, and could push wide at times.

They key is it is actually a very narrow formation, which is very much pro-calcio. It is good for protecting the centre of the pitch.
