I think for the first time he's got a string of games as a starter (3 or 4 I guess).

Before that he was injured.

When he got promoted to the professionals, there was a lot of hype around him. I think this didn't do good for him, along with the mess that has been Boca.

From what I've read, fans really don't like the guy, specially because they say he lacks grinta, dynamism, passion. They really find selling him for 9M euros a gift atm. But if he starts impressing, this could change quickly.

Maybe he's a little Pjanic, who knows.

edit: some more accurate data: he's started the past 4 games (2w/2d), never got subbed. According to whoscored, he's had a good performance the past 3 games, with 2 assists, and was the man of the match last game. His ratings are the 5th higher of the team so far in the league. Of 8 games, he played 5 as a starter, 1 as a sub.

So he's probably living the best moment of his career right now, asserting himself.

And hes injured right now. so basically we will only lose Lemina for 5-6 games, no big deal as we have Marchisio, Khedira, Pjanic, Sturaro, Hernanes already and can always go 442 or play AS as a CM in case of a serious injury crisis. People seriously need to stop using the AFCON as an excuse for needing to sign a mid in January. If there is an opportunity we will consider, but wont sign a player because 2 CMs will be unavailable for 3 weeks
:agree: especially if its a transfer that has no guarantees at all. If we are going to over pay then we should do so on someone we are confident can contribute at a high level during those AFCON weeks and afterwards too.

 I wouldnt rely on a kid anyway (unless he is showing Pogba kind of talent. But its good to have the option of buying him if he matures well enough for a club like us.

Looks like one of those natural talents, very elegant midfielder with great feet, but still very raw and poor fundamentals/decision making.

But yes, I like this kind of investment. It's extremely unlikely that even if this guy fails to develop, we won't sell him for stg near the price he was bought.

Can you imagine?

Buffon
Dani Alves - Bonucci - Chiellini - Alex Sandro
Verratti
Khedira - Marchisio
Pjanic
Higuain - Dybala

Bench:
DEF: Barzagli, Benatia, Rugani, Evra, Mattiello
MID: Sturaro, Lemina, Witsel
ATT: Kean, Pjaca, Zaza (?), ?

Why expect suprise? We rarely do anything good in January, only exception being Barzagli.

I think Caceres was another January buy but you're right of course. Anyway, I'm expecting Witsel or some midfielder at the very least because our homework clearly wasn't done in the summer.

Other than that I don't expect much which is why it'd be a surprise. Still there's probably money available seeing how the summer mercato went and with Roma tumbling out of the CL (again).

Do we need Fabregas type of player in our midfield? I think he is way too similar with Pjanic and Khedira in the aspect that he doesnt run too much

Our midfield would be pathetic with Fabregas and Pjanic in it. Marchisio is amazing but if he's the sole source of energy and physicality in our midfield then we either completely 100% change the way we play or offer to resign from the CL group stages until further notice.

The shitty sideways passing scrappy individualistic football we play at the moment does not need yet another low energy physically bad player in it.

Rumors that Chelsea want to send Fabregas out on loan in January.

Not sure how credible they are, and Fabregas is just about the last type of player we'd need, but holy moly if that doesn't scream market opportunity nothing does

That deal is the ideal Beppe signing if anything. A WC player who has won everything in PL, La Liga and with the NT, is still under 30, solid attacking threat, able to play a couple of positions.....

Sure we could use a Kante or a Matic more, but these kind of deals you grab if they present themselves.
