Hey guys, World class is subjective, so there isn't really any way to objectively say what it is. It's all just a matter of opinion really, outside of a few players. It shouldn't exclusively be for best player in the world types like Messi and Ronaldo or even best player in his position of all time types like Buffon. But it also doesn't have to be a fixed number for each position, which would hugely underrate players at some positions and overrate players at other positions. It's also much harder to decide what makes a world class fullback or CB, or defensive mid as opposed to world class attacking players, where statistics are of much greater aid.

Pjanic and Dybala are WC for me. Well, let me qualify that. They were both world class last season. First season as such for each. SO I suppose, to truly cement themselves there, they just need to show they can play at that level year in and year out. Alex Sandro is a little further away, on the cusp of being world class, but still needs to have that consistent top level season.

Dybala well on his way to being WC, not there yet. Higuain is WC. Pjanic is not world class for my money. He's a top mid. Not WC. Modric is WC. Kroos is WC. Sandro thiugh is probably going to get there sooner than zPjanic. He's probably a season away from WC. Pjanic is just a rung below, though he keeps the mid among the better ones in Europe.
Pjanic is equal to Kroos. Not better certainly, but I rate him on that level for sure after this past season. Was Roma's best player.

Dybala certainly reached WC level this past season. 23 goals-8 assists. Was our best player looking at the season as a whole.

With both of them, what's left is showing they can perform at this level season after season.

Not really sure what you both mean by that, World class is subjective, so there isn't really any way to objectively say what it is. It's all just a matter of opinion really, outside of a few players. I really find Kroos underwhelming considering the praise he gets literally everywhere. Sure he's a good passer and a decent set-piece taker but I rarely see him dictate the play or pull something amazing out of the bag. He also completely disappears if his team isn't playing well, doesn't really have the presence to impose himself, not to mention barely any defensive skills. He'd get murdered as a central midfielder in a real league, without someone covering for him. But that's just me I guess.

Next summer

OUT: 48M

Coman 20m
Zaza 22m
Hernanes 6m
Lichtsteiner free (or in january for 3-4m)
Evra free

IN:

Darmian loan with option to buy
Lirola back from loan
Witsel free
Berardi 25m
Cuadrado 20m
Benatia 17m
Eriksen 40m
Next summer:

IN: Berardi Darmian Veratti Widmer Witsel Cuadrado Benatia
OUT: Hernanes Asamoah Coman Zaza Leali
changes during the last 3 days: licht and evra stay, asamoah and leali leave, lirola won't come back from loan, eriksen won't arrive after all these lengthy negotiations, but widmer will come eventually.

also, verratti said yes finally :tuttosport:

btw cuadrado is on a 3-year loan, so as things are standing now, he's ours for next season too.

I'll be waiting for you next season
Speaking of this game - I watched it.

On Colombia: 3 players looked good.

- James of course - This guy was all over the pitch. Maybe he only puts in this sort of effort for Colombia, because despite playing as an AM, he was constantly tracking back. Unfortunately, there is only so much one man can do, until John Square came on...
- Cuadrado - Before he entered the game Colombia had hardly any chances. He was able to put a decent amount of strain on the Brazilian defense.

- Carlos Sanchez - This guy (plays for Fiorentina) seems underrated to me. While apparently Colombia has 2 CDMs, the other guy did not stand out as much as Sanchez. He put together a game of 85% passing, 4 interceptions, 1 tackle, 1 clearance, and 1 blocked shot. While the other CDM, Barrios had more passes than Sanchez, and a similar passing accuracy, Sanchez attempted 9 long balls, and was successful on 8. Barrios, only 1. He also won two aerial battles. I could see him putting together a fairly decent year with Fiorentina. OFC EPL have used him incorrectly in the past.

If we got James & Verratti next year, I would fap non-stop for an entire year.

Keep dreaming buddy. I'd say we have a better chance of landing James than seeing Veratti in a Juventus jersey come next season.

:agree: This fascination with that stoic faced shitcunt is mind boggling. He is a solid player, but I have never considered him a key performer for either club or country. Certainly can't impact a game like a Vidal for example.
