Who would you bring in then?

We have Fagiot, Glassmsey, Arturd, McNuggets, Bentapoor and Loca as our midfield options. Only two of those are actually decent - the other four are a lolzlian, a pussy, an expired package, and a never was.

We have no money and we need to upgrade so many areas of the squad. What do Broski? Beggars can't be choosers.

Assuming we get 1 million for every game @Lion misses or every time he grows a strand of hair, that still won't be enough to overhaul the squad.

If we are going for a pure January panic signing, then I honestly would prefer Witsel for a TWO year contract, if he would agree. Not 3.

I don't think these freebies for young guys are as risk-free as we think. They get 5 year contracts on good wages. If it's 7M net like Rabiot or 5M net, even 4M, you still can't sell them because they will almost always be asked to lower their wages. Zakaria is limited and has an injury history. He could easily end up like Arthur, Berna, Rabiot - unsellable for an eternity.

A decent January PANIC mercato would be to sell Rabiot and Ramsey and bring in Witsel for 2 seasons and Rovella. The team would be improved and there would be no long-term downsides.

Then find the real CM jewel in the summer.

I would take Sheva, Weah, and Batistuta ahead of Benzema. Oh wait, we're only talking about the last decade. Yeah, he's definitely in the top 5, despite being a despicable blackmailing cunt.

However, he's already 33 years old - no need to reheat cold soup.
There are many if we take his original intention of "all time". It doesnt take anything from him but there were better forwards.
Last decade - I have to agree. There are better ones but he is definitely among the best.

Schnitzel - so underwhelming. I do want to see Rovella back here.

I think we should really try for Gravenberch - he's a younger Tielemans who would cost less, with an expiring contract in 2023 and the fat cunt as his agent.

it's mid season, so either a 1.5 or a 2.5 year contract would be offered. the shorter the better obviously. an option to extend for the last year wouldn't be bad either. anyway, it's sad that witsel at his age would improve this team. i still hope we find someone more useful. i'd love to ask paratici wtf he was thinking about sustainability and long term effects when he bought these midfielders.

btw i don't see rovella arriving. he's the one who makes genoa tick at least a bit. he's literally their most important player. they won't accept relegation as early as january.

Zakaria really is a hit or miss player. Can make a great run from midfield if he sees an opportunity, but he really tries those very often, so he is also dispossed few times in a game.
He basically is faster and stronger McKennie with better passing skills and maybe a little better defensive contribution. if its 4.5m and fee around 5 to 10m with the Ramsey going out it would be a good deal.
24 yo with good resale value, if we can do this smart then this deal is no brainer really.

We seem to make heavy losses on these mediocre players so perhaps we cut the trash players out, buy one top-quality midfielder and incorporate the likes of Rovella, Fagioli and what not.

Just dont buy this useless player, we'll never make a profit from him

imo we need 2 players in midfield - someone that can run, defend and offer some dynamism and someone that is creative and can assist and score. we don't need Witsel, all of Rabiot, Bentancur, Locatelli are different quality, a bit different characteristics, but essentially the same player - a Witsel. we need a Naingollan/Fellaini and a de Bruyne/Tielemans, we have plenty Witsels already.

for the first type - Kessie is on an expiring contract, Zakaria is on an expiring contract, both make sense to me. for the 2nd type - that's a summer mercato deal.

No surprise, as soon as any money team comes in for a player we aren't in a position to compete, that's just the current reality. Someone gets a bit of exposure now and there are 7 or 8 teams who can pay €50m for him with no problems.

At least Kean's barber will be busy if we sign Kouadio Koné.

Juventus have overtaken Roma in the race for Denis Zakaria . Giallorossi had reached an agreement in principle for a contract until 2026 with his former agent last month. The swiss midfielder prefers Bianconeri’s bid, even if his dream is still to play for Barcelona. (Nico schira)
