For conversations sake, would anyone accept Cavani and Verratti (which was mentioned by I think Mediaset and now CdS I guess) for Pogba?
I'd want cash as well.
I see it this way...
Pogba's Resume
- Tipped By Zidane for Ballon D'or in the future
- On Shortlist for This Year's Ballon D'Or
- Golden Boy Award
- Best Young Player at World Cup
- Raiola called him the most expensive player in the world
That's worth Bale at minimum, which is 100 million EUR. Realistically, given Pogba's age and ceiling (and factoring inflation from when Bale was purchased), he should go for 120-130 million EUR inclusive of an embedded transfer premium (when you want to acquire something, the seller has leverage, so you have to overpay).
Furthermore, the pieces included (Verratti, Cavani) will not include this premium. Therefore:
Cavani:
- He hasn't performed as well as when he was purchased.
- He is being provided by the buyer so there is no premium included in his valuation.
- Therefore, he is worth 35 million EUR.
Verratti
- He is a great young player
- He has no transfer premium in his valuation since he is provided by the buyer
- Therefore, he is worth ~35 million EUR
Meaning = ~125 million EUR - 70 million EUR = ~55 million EUR in cash to be provided in addition to the players included.
That would be what I'd ask. Obviously, the ask and the settled price may differ, but it should be in that realm.
