Instead of think of it as a trade, think of it as that, as depressing as it sounds, it's a given that not too far from now we will be getting too huge of bids to ignore or he will want move. If the fee is extremely profitable, would you use that money to hypothetically sign Cavani and Verratti?

I would without a second of hesitation.
thats what im trying to understand. why do people think he will want to leave at some point? he always talks about how he is thankful to us, how he respects us and how he would want to stay here. he never indicated that he would want to leave. the only "good" reason i heard so far is Raiola, but he wont (and he cant) force him to leave if Pogba doesent want to.

i dont care what everyone says, we have to keep our best players at all costs. it is important for the image of the club, it is important to keep the fans happy and win new ones, it is important to keep the winning mentality in the team and it is important to attract new "top players". Cavani and Verrati for Pogba might be a good deal pure football wise (it is a bullshit rumor so i dont know why we are even discussing it) but in the long run we would benefit much more from keeping Pogba (and Vidal)

Cavani turns 28 in a month. Not that he's "old" but when he was hot, he was 24 playing for Napoli. I can identify better strikers then him. Verratti is meant to be though..
i believe Verratti will come here at some point. not in the near future though... will be a joy watching him dominate the midfield with Pogba :D

About keeping him at all costs , I agree, it's a must. But why he might eventually leave, why do top players leave? For better career opportunities. You don't think it's possible he will eventually have more ambition then just qualifying past CL group stage, or wanting to play with absolute best players around? It's eventually likely to happen. Zidane left us for Real when gap between the clubs were small, imagine the gap now.

They're different players, Badass. While Pogba is stronger and can win balls he has half the vision and quality passing Verratti does. He's the best passer in the league right now.

Besides, do you truly and i mean truly believe we'll be able to hold on to Pogba for too long? We'd be just delaying the inevitable.
I appreciate they are different players but it is precisely because they are different players I don't think veratti would suit us any more so than Pogba in this current set up where at times we do leave ourselves exposed defensively in a formation that is designed to dominate the midfield I'm just not convinced veratti would necessarily thrive or to the same extent as Pogba.

Whether we can actually keep hold of Pogba is another issue, if the time came when we had to sell him then I'm afraid of what the board will do with the money (if it were a cash offer) we all know it will be for a player of lesser quality

Marotta with that kind of money in his hands would be a disaster.
What is your resoning behind this? If anything he has proven very capable to build a good team without selling the stars, in an extremly unfair and oilmoney driven market. People like you are much to concerned with marotta as a person in the various deals, when it really about the best offer to club and player.

you only have to look at how much he spends on players to sit on our bench in comparison to those who actually make a positive impact on the team, you begin to worry he will go trigger happy buying a new squad filled with more depth

Exactly why we should entertain good swap deals.

I'm sorry but if we get an offer of like 30m plus Cavani & Veratti we would be stupid to stay no.

I love Pogba to death but unless we start coming up with our own money to find the next Cavani's or Veratti's then what choice do we have? Please disucss

And those that are afraid of what the board will do with the cash, that's why player swaps like the one rumored would be a good thing.

There was no mention of money in the rumoured cavani and veratti deal... though it did state we'd get cavani on loan with option to buy...

We dont sell any starting players and keep the best midfield in the world. Then we find some money and sign Wilfried Bony or some other -26 year old proven goalgetter that reinforce the strikeforce. No big changes, no big chances..

yeah, im not saying there is no chance he will leave. right now or in the near future i think he will stay for sure, beyond that i cant predict what will happen. thats why it is our job as a club to ensure he stays. how? by not giving him doubts that he can achieve everything he wants here. Pogba is growing each year, both on the field and in marketing, but so are we as a club, our revenue, fan base and popularity, squad quality, results... in the CL we would need good draws for 2-3 years, to establish ourselves as a regular CL semifinal club, to push our revenue even further and to be able to build a team around Pogba by replacing current starters. in other words, if we keep improving in all aspects and become a regular threat in the CL soon, Pogba will have no reason to leave us.

what Dule said in his post earlier. be able to find and produce our own WC players. Berardi, Morata and Coman a good start, Sturaro and Rugani too, but we need to improve more in this...

And how do we do that without money to invest in top players? By adding Sneijder and Pereyra to our squad?
