There's absolutely nothing Maradona has done that Pelé hasn't done it better. This whole Pelé vs. Maradona comparison is laughable.

And Ronaldo no 2? Really? Why is Ronaldo always so overrated by Europeans? If we look at Brazil's Football history, Ronaldo was the last great striker, but before him there were many and most of them in our opinion were better Footballers, Romário is a good example. Careca is another.

So what are we really comparing here? One's talent as a professional footballer and his achievements to an extent or just who's more famous?

They always name Cafú and forget Jorginho. Or in Bjerknes' link case, Lúcio and forget Aldair. Who were clearly better players.

Yeah, but he's an English EPL fan, so his opinion has about as much value as the Russian Ruble right now.

That author more than likely would respond to a Pirlo vs. Gerrard poll with "Gerrard>>>>>>>Pirlo".

"Maldini was a very good player, not a great player (indeed, at Euro 96 he was made to look a very goofy player by Karel Poborsky, no less). Essentially, Maldini was a dishy Gary Neville. The defensive David Beckham."
**** off. Insulting Italian legends.
Why have the English always been ill natured towards Italian Football? Does this jealousy go beyond the sport or?

Roman Empire > British empire
Italian culture > English culture
Italian art > English art
Italian food > English food
Italian women > English women
Italian football > English football

It's been a centuries long inferiority complex.

"Slow and defensive" is not entertaining.

Cynical and sly versus sportsmanlike and fair.
Yeah, it's weird though because it's not only Italians that dive. The worst perps during this years World Cup were robben and muller whose countries play "upstanding" football.

Quite frankly, the English were just jealous at how successful serie a was vs the epl, which obviously isn't the case anymore. Internationally though Italy has a much more successful record and are still much better positioned.

Its a little bit of jealousy but they don't hate the Brazilians as much, for example, cuz they play the beautiful game. So they could tolerate they're superiority but not the Italian's Machiavellian style of winning

What exactly is the Italian style anymore? And for that matter English style? Styles evolve, get over it. The main difference between England and Italy is that Italian teams find ways to win and English teams don't.

Great arguments.

What has Pele done better than Maradona? Most people will argue that since Pele never played in Europe he could never be a good a Maradona. Which is a laughable suggestion. Pele's World Cup exploits alone should cement his place in history.

I am in your boat when it comes to the Ronaldo argument. Romario is my favorite Brazilian striker.

 For all he is and where he came from, all he's achieved and how and all that he's done for Football it's offensive to even suggest they are at the same level. You don't need to be from Brazil to realize that.

Ronaldo was a fine striker, don't get me wrong. And they had obviously different styles (Which was perfect balanced back in the late 90's when they played together as Brazil's frontline then. Such a wonder to watch.), but in front of goal no one had more class than Romário, not even Pelé.

Traditional styles. English football doesn't really have their own style anymore. Its all a wash of the different foreign influences. And Italian football is stuck in its ancient ways
I tend to disagree just a bit. I'm with Roberto Baggio on this one when he said tjat the rest of the world are the ones who learned the English way. We're the ones playing their style. Strength and speed.

*By "we" i don't mean Italians. Yes, they're stuck in the past.

Back in the 90's we used to make fun of their Football. How it looked like headless chickens running after a ball.

Now they have the - according to the majority - best and most competitive league in the world. It's a shame.

Romario was the most talented striker of all time imo, and had pure ice in those veins. It's too bad he was more interested in partying than actually training, although perhaps that's one of the reasons he could so easily keep his cool in front of the net no matter how big the moment. The man was a fucking genius in front of goal. If he had that drive to get better and better and better of a C. Ronaldo or Messi, it's amazing to think just what he would have done, considering how incredible his career was already.
