According to the news latley it appears we are certainly after another CB. We have been linked with Fabian Schar and we appear to be close to him for about £9.5m.

I also read today we might be after Simon Kjaer.

Kjaer

we should try to sign Schar and leave him at loan with Basel for the rest of the season. maybe we can lower the price that way. hes cup tied and we cant use him in CL anyway...

Is this Schar guy any good?
good at heading the ball, good with the ball in his feet and a great passer and apparently a great tackler also. and from what i read he steps up his game and has his better performances in the CL against better teams. could be a great buy since he wont be too expensive

what im afraid of is that we might want to wait until the summer to get him (it could be late then). 3-4 good performances in the CL/EL KO stages and the whole EPL might be after him. also, he is cup tied which could get us to look elsewhere for a CB (Balanta). what i would try to do is buy Schar now and leave him at loan at Basel until the end of the season. we dont need him in Serie A (we can win without him) anyway and we cant use him in CL. he would get enough playing time and we would secure him before he caughts attention of one of the money clubs. then try to sign Balanta or whoever else we had in mind (Allegri wants a player that can cover CB and LB apparently in January) and if we succeed then we can sell Ogbonna to cover the 2 transfers. he doesent play at all after that Olympiacos game and i think Allegri doesent have him in his plans anymore. sounds not very likely but thats what i wuld try to do

Transfermarkt says that Sampdoria have a buying option on Romagnoli, is that true?

These days there has been a lot of talk about Schar and Balanta. After seeing clips on Youtube( yeah i know), I rellay don't like neither of them, because they tend to rush forward very often, and they pass a lot of long balls( especially Schar), and I really hate when center backs do that. Among young CBs I like Varane the most, I know that he is impossible to get, I will just use him as an expample. He really is/will be great CB, he does his defensive duties, when he gets the ball, he passes the ball immediately to the free player, he doesn't hold up the ball, he doesn't play dumb long passes, he doesn't risk/dribble( after watching Balanta he loves to do that, I don't know how that will work out for him in Europe), he doesn't rush forward so he doesn't risk being caught out of position.

It is very possible that I am wrong about Schar and Balanta, but from what I have seen, I do not like any of them.

roma can stop the buy back option if they pay a small fee. Roma also have Tin Jedvaj (another croatian talent) who has been superb for bayern levakusen in both CB, RB
