Mutu & Alex....they are not creative? please...
    1. Mutu and Alex do not play midfield.
    2. Mutu and Alex do not have the passing range, ability, and wherewithall to make good use of their creativity in midfield.
    3. We are talking about the midfield here.
    4. We have seen Del Piero drop back behind the strikers and the result is not very useful.
    5. Fact of the matter is, the place where creativity is most abundant is in the midfield.

andy, mutu does have the "creative" nous, he has the instinctive improvisation of a playmaker, its jus chelsea tried to make him a Striker...which failed miserably.

I don't think Mutu's passing range is up to par, in terms of what I'm looking for. He is indeed creative in a similar way to Del Piero, just with more incisiveness and speed. Not the kind of creativity I'm looking for because his passing is not entirely exceptional.

true...the results have not been very impressive. who would you like to see there?
Behind the strikers? If Capello was not the coach and I was, I would have bought David Pizarro from Udinese and set our team out like this:

    Buffon

    Zebina - Thuram - Cannavaro - Zambrotta

    Camoranesi - Emerson - Pizarro - Nedved

    Ibrahimovic - Trezeguet

That would certainly solve our creativity problems.

what about Paddy? or would you not have bought him? I´m not a Zebina fan. I agree with John when he says that chelsea tried to make him a striker...I´d give him a chance behind the strikers

If it was up to me I would have bought David Pizarro and Christian Ledesma this summer, both signatures costing us less than Vieira himself.

that´s true...why do you rate ledesma so high? Not that I´m criticizing, but I have barely heard of him. So you think Paddy is not really needed?
Vieira was most certainly needed, because we obviously needed a partner for Emerson in midfield because Blasi is just not good enough. We needed someone, and for Capello Vieira fit the bill. However, I just preferred the younger, more creative Pizarro.....he could become a world class player this year.

Ledesma is another good young player as well who Corvino found. At Lecce Ledesma became captain at the early age of 23 if I remember correctly, so obviously the kid was an oustanding player. He is basically a holding midfielder with good tackling ability and a very good passing range. I thought he would fit in nicely next to Emerson, as the latter would be his tutor. Expect Ledesma to move to a bigger club after this season....at least he should.

And that formation works fo me except put Camo on the right and Mutu in Nedved's place.

Camo should most certainly be on our right wing. If we wanted to use Mutu in a midfield role, (as much as it breaks my heart to say this) he should be interchangeable with Nedved if anyone. If I remember correctly Capello tested Mutu in that role during pre-season.

yeah...that would be a good move....Camo is needed, I´ve always underrated him, but afte last season I don´t. Well we can get Ledesma next year? is he still at lecce? Pizarro I know, great player

I could honestly see Ledesma as Emerson's successor in the future. He should turn out to be a great player and leader.

Is it just me, or is every point the same; they aren't midfielders.

Why should we play 4-4-2 at all times, even if we clearly don't have a left winger? Just play 4-3-3 and let Emerson and Zambrotta cover the left midfielder spot.

Yes, it's just you. Yes, I oversimplified numbers one and three just to get the point across, however my points remain.

Will lack of creativity hurt us?

    Good question.

Last season in midfield it did, especially in CL.

This year i dont know, ive only seen one game, im gon have to see at least 5-6 games before i can comment but i have to say that Viera is a very skilled player. Him together with Emerson, Camo, Neddy and Mutu should be more then enough for good creative play.
