Will Lack of Creativity Hurt Us This Season? (1 Viewer)

Personally I would say Pizarro is a better fit, simply because we already have a great holding midfielder in Emerson and that David would give us that extra creativity in midfield. When you look at our squad the last thing we need is more defensive midfielders, and we lack a central midfielder who specializes in going forward.

Thus, Emerson would hold back much more and Pizarro would be able to venture forward a bit more. With the Vieira and Emerson combo we have two almost identical players who share the duties. Again, this is just personal preference here and I still fail to see how Pizarro would be depended on too much...that doesn't make sense.

There is indeed more versatility than last year, all except for one location... the midfield. And how versatility will solve our creativity problem in midfield, I don't know. ;)

As for the trident attack solving this problem...I stated it only solves it a bit because we just have more presence and more personel in the attacking third, thus giving us more options when we progress forward. However I still foresee a problem with getting the ball to those forwards in difficult positions due to our lack of creativity. Having several players up top will increase our presence indeed, however giving them the ball is something we must think about too...the whole purpose of this thread.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy with our squad, however I'm just posing questions that we might have to deal with later on in the season. There is no doubt in my mind that our lack of creativity in midfield will cost us a game or two...the question will be when.

And to be honest, I'm just tired of playing half-ass football and winning in the most scrappiest of ways....as you recall last year we won a lot of matches we perhaps shouldn't have, and you cannot be entirely satisfied with winning unless you know you deserve it. I hope with our new recruits this season we will own the opposition much more than we did last year...unforunately, though, against Chievo, we didn't get off to a very good start.
I still believe that you tend to overrate vision. Vieira was much less of a risk than Pizarro, which was obviously the most important factor for the triade when they decided to take the frenchman over Chilean talent... Can't say that I disagree with them.

Vieira has proved that he can perform on big matches and in Europe, that's very important when your going for glory in Europe. Not to mention that he is very consistent and brings loads of experience, determination and general leadership to the squad. He's an excellent example for youngsters etc. In the same time Pizarro has only proved himself in Udine and he really doesn't bring that much to the game while he doesn't have the ball. They really couldn't take their chances, because Juve wants success instantly. CL is the priority, no doubt about it, and to achieve that goal buying Vieira was much better decision than bringing unproven Pizarro here.

I highlighted one part of your text because I believe that's your whole point. I can understand that you like beautiful, streaming and free football. Well I enjoy that kind of football too, but when we're talking about my favourite team, I don't care a hell about it if they keep on winning.

Attacking midfielders are overrated, they're not essential when you want to win trophies, they're much more a luxury than necessity. Buying Pizarro would have probably won Juve few games, yes. But that would have costed more than few games too. That "half-ass football", as you described it, wins the games. It has been like this for ages, Agnelli loved it too. Minimum effort, maximum result, it will prove worth a million when season deciding games come along, I'm certain of it.

Well having seen all the their competitive matches up to this point, so far so good.

We are creating a lot more chances than last year and many more shots at goal.

From what i can see on the field and also have read in a few player articles, having 2 class players like emerson and viera is freeing up everybody else a lot more this year.

So much for lack of creativity :)

my 2cents :)

I think we can all see now that we are creating sufficient enough chances eventhough we aren't playing free flowing attacking football.
Again, I also think Vieira is a much better aqcusition than pizarro as he does have the passing range. And seeing him on the pitch I think he has settled in perfectly for us, giving our midfield a balance of attack and defence.
But, It'd be better if we are better still at our finishing as we have had the chances in our last few games to score, but poor finishing(like I have mentioned before) left us only with marginal wins (except for against Empoli which we could have won for an even bigger margin).

Vieira isnt finished,
either unskilled to go ahead as many memvers feared when we signed him,
he IS a world class player i never had any doubt on this,
(some people were really sad we choosed Vieira over Pizarro)
we have a balanced team focused on defence,
our wings are now free to attack,
but it seems so far they arent in their best form,
when this happen we will become even more impressive!!!
