Ok i just read a interesting comment on local news comment section:

Both teams captains can call for video replay, 1 time in both halfs. If the captain proves referee wrong in the situation, referee will overrule his mistake. If referee didnt make a mistake, the captain is booked for time wasting. So that means, if its 2nd half, there is a questionable situation, and the captain has a yellow card already, then he will be sent off if his wrong in his challenge. In that case or any case, its up to team captain if he makes the challenge or not.

I still prefer extra referees. Dont like the idea of stopping the game for video replay.

Now everyone will make their GKs captain.

OK, so who was correct with their analysis of last night? Me, or the officials?

I was correct, so nananana-boo-boo, the arm-chair folks you despise win again.

    Catch my drift?

Sure, slow motion doesn't always tell the real story. But if you think that the human eye can always catch the truth in real time... :sergio:
My point is that the pursuit of the perfect truth is a complete illusion. No matter what we do, cognitive science proves that we won't get it.

So knowing that we have to live with imperfection and the reality that there will be disputed calls no matter what technology is involved, the question then becomes how much do you want to disrupt and change the sport to meet those levels of varying imperfection. At which point does the possibility of marginal improvement get outweighed by changing the the game to something conforming to measurement and precision rather than competition and play. It's kind of like the Heisenberg uncertainty principle applied to sports.

Or the law of diminishing marginal utility in economics.

I see what you're saying, but I don't think we should blast an idea before experimenting with it. We don't have controversial goals being scored every 20 minutes in football, so I don't see a big deal if we use replay for controversial goals like that one as long as it doesn't eat up tons of time. I can see why folks wouldn't like a match being stopped for every foul, and I wouldn't like it either.

Personally I'd be in favour of trialling a rugby-style video referee for contentious goals/penalty appeals and nothing else.

People say that it's too much of a disruption to the game, but oftentimes it takes 30 seconds to take a corner kick and 1 minute to take a free kick, so it wouldn't be a great loss for the sake of having fairer officiating.

Another argument against video referee is corrupting the purity of the game. I agree that football shouldn't be bogged down by technological dependence, but too many important matches are decided by dodgy calls that could easily have been spotted with one viewing of a video replay, and on a stage like the World Cup or Champions League, I don't see a problem with using modern technology to make a fairer game.

If they bring in video replay then they will always make the right call.

Is that really what they want..........

I think a steel-cage wrestling match with chainsaws to settle all disputes would make the ratings go through the roof. :agree:

cornerkicks and free kicks are still part of the game players are still to be alert and in "game mode", i watch argentinian league and i always found it odd how they d stop every 20 minutes to get hydrated in their summer months.

to be honest i don't like all the ideas of video technologie in footbal ...
eventhough you feel betrayed by a bad desicion this is why people love to discuss the whole week about an incident... i still have the feeling that everything comes back in a season... sometimes u get a non existing pen sometimes the other team recive one

Come on guys? What's the football without match-fixing?

I have a solution though. Nobody would complain if the referees look like this:

come on, FIFA, we all know that only women know how to blow the whistle.

Edit: Women-referees can always be spanked in front of all fans, if they make mistakes. Handjobs, eh I mean handballs, wouldn't hurt that much
