Zizou was voted 3rd in the World player of the year and European player of the year in 1997.
In 1998 he was both World and European player of the year.

I was in the stadium for most of the games that season, and I can tell you that Zizou was untouchable and magnificent.

I do not agree with all 82% of you.

Try another season.
but you have to agree mate, thouhg zidane and platini, heck, even baggio, were better players than del piero, they never achieved the mytical status at juventus. while zidane 1996-2000 was better than ale, his last season with juventus kind of takes all that away. fuck me, was i glad when we sold him...

this is not a poll about who is/was a better player overall. its about who contributed mostly to juventus throughout the years.. the answer to that one is kind of obvious imo. also, i wonder if the likes of platini and zidane wouldve stayed in here if juventus were relegated to serie b? think about it.

Firstly, Zizou (I only mention him as others keep on doing so) was sold for expedient reasons: Loads of money. Yes he had always expressed a desire to play in the Spanish league (and for family reasons to live there) and when the offer came, we did not try to stop him. It is a matter of conjecture if we could have succeeded. DP has expressed a desire to play in the English league, but loads of money has never been offered: it is a matter of conjecture what the board would have done. I guess bitten their hands off.
Secondly, this is not called who has contributed most to Juve over the years, but the "Best" number 10: and that means to me the player with the most skill, and influence on the game. Yes DP has been a great servant to us for many years, but if I had to pick one number 10 to be playing in our team it would not be him. He is not as good a player (I do not mean loyalty or longevity) as, say, Platini or Baggio.

Zidane's time at Juve was only better cox\z Ale had suffered a horrific career-threatening KNEE INJURY which would have ended the career of most players...b4 that injury Ale was still head and shoulders above Zizou for Juve

Stop trying to compare DP to Zizou, this is about Number 10s. Zizou is recognised the whole world over as one of the greatest players of his or any other era, and it is unfair to judge DP to him.

And if I have to read one more time about the career threatening injury that robbed the world of its greatest ever player, I'll laugh my head off.

There was this lad I went to school with who was an absolute genius with the ball but alas an injury ended a great chance for him to be the new wonder player. I tripped him up as he was about to shout post Alessandra our goalkeeper.

The only reason DP had a longer and more successful career than Dunken Edwards, is because Edwards career was ended by death.

Etc...

Quick YES/NO question to bianconero:

Would any (normal) Real Madrid fan vote for Zidane as a greater Madridista over let's say Raul or Di Stefano (even though Zidane's player abilities and achievements are better than both)?

It depends on which criteria:

Greatest, as in the DP way of being a long standing servant: Or Greatest the player who was the most capable and skillful footballer.

Yes, in other words; Some have difficulties with Di Stefano anyway.

If this is not insult, then it's the most weird humour for which I've ever heard
:disagree:
If you look more carefully, you will see that was originally posted by Bombardier..., so I wouldn´t say I insulted him. And if I did, I didn´t mean to.

When will this thread be closed?

I get the picture, Del Piero is the best number 10 and it won´t ever change...

Good one, Del Piero overall must be the best Juve player ever and of course for us and Juventus FC he must be Juve Legend.. How can Zidane who played 5 years for Juve and 6 years for Real Madrid can be the greatest Juve player ?? Ask some Real madrid fan who is their legend: Raul (10 years) or Mijatovic, Suker, Morientes.. who spend a 2-3 years playing for Madrid

What is the point of answering questions when there is no intelligent response, only blah, blah, blah, DP is a star.

He is a leg end, more than a foot note, an excellent ex arm ple, but not the most talented (yes best) player we have had.

I wish I had never started this pointless waste of space. I had thought that given DP's record more interesting debate would have ensued, but oh dear the paper hankies came dripping out.

This poll is worthless. Different guys from different ages. As good as polling on Maradona vs Pele vs Zidane. You find that those who saw a particular guy in action are more than likely to vote that guy, and majority of the humans here saw ADP in action...

True enough, but if you come back with the same question in 10-15 years time, I feel that all the Zidane/Baggio fans will be of the same opinion as the rest of us;

Ale is The Greatest Bianconero Of All Times

Everything in our history seems more important, more meaningful, more great than things that are happening in the here & now. Once Ale's contribution becomes a part of that history & he is long retired, only then will his significance to the club become legend. This man stayed when leaving was the easy option, he is the one who will lead us back to Serie A, he is our all-time leading scorer, he's played his entire senior career for us. He is one of us, a true Juventino, a fan. This is obvious when he plays, when he scores, when he speaks of his love for the club & the shirt. How can anyone of us doubt his greatness or his place in the pantheon of legends to wear the black & white. He will be seen as the greatest, and then the poll will be far from worthless.
