too bad,but a player who hasnt played much for a year and now 6 months of not playing at all must be rusty, plus he is fat and might fall back on drugs. Dunno... its a risk keeping him, hopefully it will be worth it.

This is gonna be quite a long read but please read-up as I have been pondering on this and have only found the perfect thread to post it.

I think the main question here is that will Juventus keep him or let him go?

I think we should keep him. Firstly, Mutu is a fast player, something we have never had in attack since Di Vaio's departure for Valencia. Just look at the number of goals Di Vaio scored coming off from the bench. Up to now, I still rue his departure.

Mutu would suit and complement the Juventus system very well as we love to control the tempo of the game and admittedly, we play very slow and patient football. Someone like Mutu could be our catalyst or so called "X-factor" and be the give the decisive touch of burst of speed that could unlock defenses.

Our style of play is very direct and it is for this reason why we have had difficulty scoring goals in matches that matter. Just look at the elimination at the hands of Liverpool, our attack was read like a novel by Rafa Benitez, add to the fact that Hyppia played a flawless game. If we had someone with Mutu's speed, we could have easily used it as we were very strong in imposing ourselves, although we did not have that preadator in the box to put away the chances or possession we built up. To sum it all up, the Liverpool game was all that, ALL BUILD-UP, but NO FINISHING.

~

Another speculation about Mutu is that he will be used to prise away Cassano from Roma, but I highly think this unlikely to happen. We all know how Juve hate Roma, and vice versa. I think we are doing this on purpose to make the Sensis sweat over the youngster's future at the capital. Of course, speculations over interest will always make it more difficult for present clubs to negotiatie contract extensions, and this is something we enjoy doing to Roma.

Here are my reasons to believe we won't be signing Cassano:

1. He is too temperamental and we all know how Juventus are adamant of professionalism with its players, just look at Del Piero's reaction to Cufre's punch. That was sheer professionalism.

2. He is too expensive. Imagine us giving away Mutu + cash, I think that would be giving Roma a very huge present, and that is something I don't think Juventus would grant Roma.

~

I just want to make it clear that I became a Juventus fan because of Del Piero. I still can not forget the back-heel goal he scored as a youngster who came on as a substitute against Dortmund int he CL Final years ago, of course we lost.

But next year, I would really love to see a Zlatan-Mutu parntership because their combination would be very deadly. It could be a repeat of the Adriano-Mutu partnership in Parma a couple of years ago.

Del Piero, as I have always said, never lost his touch and vision for the ball. I think that he always did well on the left side of midfield and his passing and awareness could connect well with Nedved and create attacking spaces for other stirkes. His touches are still brilliant although I have to be honest that his speed is already inexistent. And this is the reason why I would place him on an attacking midfielder on the left side as he wouldn't be as crowded as he usually is playing as a striker. He usually loses the ball once he has an opponent on both his sides. But with him on the flanks, he could utilize the byline and get a lot of one-on-one situations where he usually flourishes.

Next year though, I would lov to see a Zlatan-Mutu partnership upfron, with Del Piero, Nedved, and Camoranesi linking just behind them. Emerson could be the lone defensive mifielder just behing the divine midfield trio of the three abovementioned. Zlatan would be strong and powerful, his dribbling is also a big plus. While Adrian Mutu would provide us speed and deadliness in attack. The kid's got flair and oozing with confidence, as evidence of the fact that he lived such a grand lifestyle in London. I just hope all that will be behind him when he starts playing. I can see the Juventus system (which is professionalism) giving Adrian Mutu's ego a huge slap on the face and kicking his ass back to reality, this would make him a very very great player. If he allows Juventus to mould him into the player we want to be, he can be one of the most prolific strikers in Europe.

To sum it all up, I think we should keep Adrian Mutu but keep a good eye on him and cultivate him and mould him into an ideal professional like Del Piero.

Primo, that post was long, but well augmented all the same. Im in agreement with you, for most part. Although i wouldnt see your system of three behind front two work. As idealistic as it sounds, you've got to keep in mind, that again is a makeshift situation. Del Piero and Nedved are slowly but surely losing their pace in the top flight. To me Nedved can stay another couple of seasons to help mould his replacement. Quite like Rui Costa at Milan. But for Dp, im sorry, i think his time is up. And Mutu is the man i want to see taking up the number 10 jersey from him in the coming summer. Of course, Dp's replacement in the squad could very well be Cassano, which to me would be a big plus and give our game a whole new dimension in attack. Personally though, unfortunately, i see Trezeguet as the one who will be sacrificed ahead of Del Piero, and that could continue to hold us back, up front.

Azzurri7 does not like Mutu because he's a threat to Del Piero's spot on the team.
Andrew and Don.

No, I don't want Mutu in Juve, not because he's a threat to the Captain. It's just silly the way both of you think.

IF you read my posts carefully, you'll see that I want Gila,Nonda and many other strikers, You think these Strikers wont put Dp's position in danger??

I just don't know why you guys always have to bring Dp in our discussion, and TBH, I can just smile when I read that Mutu might be Threat to Del Piero's Spot, It might be True, But Mutu should now 1 thing, he'll never be 20% of what Del Piero is.

Believe me, I live in Romania, I know Adrian Mutu more then anyone of you guys here in this Forum, I know since when exactly he started the Coca thing, Believe it or Not, I even practiced with him in Dinamo Bucuresti few months ago, someday I'll show you the pictures when am free.

I just don't know why you guys Rate him as if he's the new Baggio.
I really hope Moggi wont do a stupid move by keeping him in our Club, Juve is bigger then Mutu and the Likes of Mutu, P.s we don't need his services.

Well, I beg to differ. I think we do need his services. I don't know how you can say we don't need Mutu's services when you list Shaboni Nonda as a striker we are supposedly going after. You say we are going after many other strikers, but why should we when we have Mutu?

Yes, he used coke in the past and came up positive during a test. I've used drugs in the past and I still play for my college team. Did I suddenly become a useless player after I took a few hits? I don't think so. People tend to over-dramatize using drugs, and Mutu is clearly a case.

I don't think anybody here is rating Mutu as the "new Baggio," however many do think he could add something to this team. Drug users are not forever drug users, and I highly doubt Mutu would be considered an addict. If he was, most likely our staff would realize and he would not have been training with Juventus over the past few months.

So the question is why not Mutu? Why shouldn't have we brought Mutu to Turin? Juventus had to pay nothing to get Mutu; a player who before his Chelsea transfer was one of the brightest prospects in world football. So he did a little coke.......so what. That doesn't mean he still uses coke at present time and that doesn't mean we shouldn't give him another chance. Mutu is certainly worth the risk, and if he regains even half of that Parma form we will be in good shape. There are no feasible arguments for denying Mutu his chance in Turin.

Do you have any arguments Rab?

think about it, both gila and nonda (to a certain extent) are direct replacements for trezeguet while mutu does exactly what del piero is suppossed to do. i still think that he fears for del piero

This is something I'd like to see. I don't know why you thrash Mutu so much and even though you are Romanian, I think you need to appreciate and admit a little that the guy has talent. Well, he certainly doesn't suck.

As regards to Baggio's comment, I agree with you too. I think that Trez will be the first to sacrifice because I dont even think Juventus will sell Del Piero, not unless the player wishes to. I would also love to see Mutu take Del Piero's place in the lineup, but that is if his condition and form now is still similar to his form in Parma.

The real problem though is that I don't see anyone replacing Nedved. We were quite lucky he ended up that stellar in Juventus as it was quite a surprise to me that he was able to fill in the gap Zidane left when he signed for Real.

Andy, I coudn't agree with you more about Mutu being a victim of over-dramatization by the media. I think in one point of these players' lives, some of them have done something bad illegal. But still, it's a phase they get through. I hope Mutu gets all this behind him and starts to concentrate on just playing.

So where do we place Mutu?

Beside Ibrahimovic/Trezeguet, and on top of Nedved.
