TBH I just don't get why some posters here even feel the need to defend the overbearing trolls (and themselves?) insted of just accepting that it does annoy some members?

What's so wrong with trying to change your behaviour a bit if it bothers someone else? no one is asking for too much, just a bit of good will
You bother me. Please change your behavior. I hope I'm not asking too much. I find you horribly annoying.

I think it's difficult for the mod team, or any individual member, to decide a "mission" for the forum, as it's a delicate balance between informed football opinion (and members feeling safe and encouraged to contribute such posts), casual football opinion, inquiring minds, and silliness. I think the forum would be a lesser place without all of those things, but how do you police the silliness? With so many strong personalities who belong to all of those groups, it's easy for the fun to take over, but then easy for the idiocy to get out of hand. And we can all easily get caught up in that, mods included :)

From what I've heard, and what I've seen since being here, good times come and go, and groups of posters come and go, and the forum becomes different things for different groups of posters. In-jokes can be fun, but they can also be very, very tedious, and it's difficult to keep people around and encourage sensible posting when you're also having to baby them over high-school bullshit.
I think rethinking where to draw the line is what will in the long term change gradually the direction. No problem with messing around, troll, etc. I do it too quite often, but people should say or bring something relevant once in a while too, and preferably more often. Be harsher on those that only troll.

What I'm saying won't be popular, fuck that.

Not popular, but that is a valid point. Posters who exist solely to follow another one around, trolling them, or to post "fuck X player" twenty times in one day need to be monitored.

if anyone has big issues with the posts of certain members, there is an option to ignore list them.

never used it for myself till now though.

Keep crapping, I dont give a shit. You keep proving that you have no business watching football, a sport designed so even the biggest imbeciles get it.
Apparently you do, seeing how you love replying to me despite putting me on your ignore list multiple times.

You do realize you went full Sheik on me, right?
Nah, man. He went beyond full Sheik. I can never go full Nikola. That's a whole new level of retardedness.
