I think everyone is being a touch too sensitive about this "trolling" and TBH the nastiness and hatred was A LOT worse when I first joined this forum.

Just chill out people, it's the off season and people tend to get a touch bored and annoyed whilst waiting for the season to start. Everything will be fine in late August :)

Important thread. I would like to know what kind of forum the administration and the mod team want and then they should apply the rules consequently. They haven't done anything wrong, don't get me wrong as I think the forum is ran in a very good way and the mod team are doing their job; it should just be established what direction they want to take.

I used to be a lurker even before my join date, and this forum always had its ways of messing around which I liked very much, but it wasn't just that, the overall quality of the forum and those of the posts in here were miles better and I wish I had started posting in those days. Having both made it an amazing forum. There was more of an equilibrium and there were tons of good posters, now it just became comedy central and I won't lie I get caught up in it. No doubt, I think I also play a part of that bad trend. I feel like giving up sharing my opinion most of the time, because that's just not the type of discussions there is most of the time, and most of my posts have been thrash. That's not what I'm looking for anymore. I won't lie, I'd never tell I frequent this forum to people I see in real life. I'm still attached to this forum, and look forward to posts of some members here, but I'd like an equilibrium.
Equilibrium.

I think it's difficult for the mod team, or any individual member, to decide a "mission" for the forum, as it's a delicate balance between informed football opinion (and members feeling safe and encouraged to contribute such posts), casual football opinion, inquiring minds, and silliness. I think the forum would be a lesser place without all of those things, but how do you police the silliness? With so many strong personalities who belong to all of those groups, it's easy for the fun to take over, but then easy for the idiocy to get out of hand. And we can all easily get caught up in that, mods included :)

From what I've heard, and what I've seen since being here, good times come and go, and groups of posters come and go, and the forum becomes different things for different groups of posters. In-jokes can be fun, but they can also be very, very tedious, and it's difficult to keep people around and encourage sensible posting when you're also having to baby them over high-school bullshit.

We should keep only the Bolivian members.
And their maids.

As a seasoned citizen of the internets, I must say that the trolling skill is quite low around these parts, with an odd gem making its way out of a sea of turds every once in a while.

I love trolling - it's a beautiful part of message board culture. Sadly, that discipline has been eroded and will usually just consist of people repeating the same "controversial" statement over and over and over again until they get attention.

Saying controversial and provocative shit just to get a rise out of some autist may not be the highest form of trolling but I still enjoy it when done reasonably well. The problem only arises, in my humble internet culture expert opinion, when it's the same shit over and over again.

Tighten your group, troop.
How do you rate me?

Tips?

TBH I just don't get why some posters here even feel the need to defend the overbearing trolls (and themselves?) insted of just accepting that it does annoy some members?

What's so wrong with trying to change your behaviour a bit if it bothers someone else? no one is asking for too much, just a bit of good will can go along way and the mods can deal with the big issues insted of being babysitters
