What always astonishes me is that most restaurants in Italy are actually very good. In Belgium you'd have one out of ten that's good, while in Italy there's one out of ten that's bad. That is, if you're not a tourist who visits Italy for the first time of course.
And the prices are simply amazing. Last week I was sitting in a restaurant in Scilla, with one of the most amazing views in Calabria. I paid something like 6 euros for a good risotto.
When you go to a restaurant in Belgium that gives you a view on a horibbly looking brown sea, you can be pretty sure you're about to lose a lot of money.
