I was under the impression that dubious honor was held by Colombia?
Not anymore. Uribe has done an awesome job of controlating the guerrilla and lowering the kidnapping rates significantly. Theyve improved over this past years and I guess I could say that currently Bogota is safer than Caracas. While the Colombians keep improving and becoming safer, Venezuela just keeps sinking more and more

It's ok, I think it can't be solved by foriegn help...it has to be internal, a local person to step up or else people here would just hate your country or any other that tries to intervine. Honestly, lots of religious people here talk about how bad foriegners are and about the US' policies (which I do agree to some extent), but they don't realize that the biggest damages are caused by locals.

The country is just so divided and people think individually(up to relatives and family) but I see not many having good intentions to help the people in general.

It wasn't like this during the reign of our first president, but then again perhaps the solidarity was still felt then after the battles against colonialism.

Its such a mess Erik, I have to tell my self to stop thinking about it and just go on with my business.
Just last week they started implimenting a new regulation at the Airport. There is no pick-up lane, it is reserved for licensed taxis and officials, everyone else has to enter the parking area which you have to pay a minimum of 3.000,- rupiahs (about 30cents but ofcourse with a higher local value). I can't recall ever visiting an Airport where you can't just come and quickly pick some one up. This new regulation is also causing alot of traffic there, cause now all vehicles must look for parking space no matter what. Thieves in Suits I tell ya.
I'm sorry to hear that, but frankly speaking have u ever thought of migrating?

On another note, Erik:

I once heard you say Salernitans are rather unfriendly towards foreigners. Now this might sound strange to you, but they've always been friendly towards us.

For example, there is this restaurant we go to once a year. The guy who owns the restaurant is a waiter as well. Because we've got a pretty large family (that has only stopped growing last year :)), it was pretty easy for him to recognise us. We always get a special treatment there now. Last time he wouldn't give us the menu cards, he said he'd just give us what he felt was the best. Since the guy himself is rather well built the best was a huge dish of fish.

I agree we might look pretty southern, because we're pretty tanned and we've got brown hair, but we don't really look Italian either.

But you have a large bill :D
No, actually he got us a good price :).

Restaurants in the south of Italy are rather cheap anyway. At least when you compare them to restaurants in Tuscany and Belgium.

Your avatar does not look nice Seven, do you want a better one?
I'd like to make the white part grey, but other than that I don't want to change it. It's about the number you see :D.

Well it's not like I haven't met any nice Salernitans but overall I struggled to make contacts and friendships; something that was extremely easy for me to do in Naples. It just struck me as a huge difference in a small region.

So what restaurant is that? I might have been there.

It's called "Pinocchio" - I know, it's a lousy name, but I guess the guy was too lazy - and the owner is a typical fat Italian.

It's always full though. It's situated near the, well at least that's how I'd call it, harbor.

Somehow the guy thinks we're really wealthy and he always asks whether we came by boat. Always felt it was too funny to disappoint the guy. "No no, this time we used the car".
