Exactly. That is why you hope there is something out there. That's what your entire theory stands or falls with: Hope.

I don't hope. I have reasonable reasons to believe in God. I am talking about those who dot have the luxury of warm meal everyday and access to the internet. They must have hope.

My theory is based on numerous arguments for the existence of God and while faith is ultimately required to believe in God, not believing God is also a form of faith in the sense that you do not know he exists. Perhaps even a form of hope for atheists who fear that God actually does exist which would mean their eternal damnation.

I'm on your side here Martin, but this is sophistic :D.

Problem is that Poseidon is just as imaginary as God. So is Bugs Bunny in fact. You can't have a rational theory based on this principle, JR.
But I can prove to you that Bugs Bunny is a fictional cartoon character, Can you prove to me that God isa figment of my imagination. Please do.

Can you really?

Because I happen to know the exact moment when Jesus said there was a certain God. I also know the exact moment when Muhammad said the same and I also know the exact moment when someone said there was such a thing as Bugs Bunny. Let's face it: Bugs Bunny is as big as God.

Jesus performed miracles and resurrected from his tomb, and there are reliable historical accounts for this. Jesus indeed claimed He was God. Now, when did anyone claim Bugs Bunny is real?

I hate it how you always involve typical atheistic arguments instead of thinking for yourself. Instead of using "The Flying Spaghetti Monster" you used "Bugs Bunny" to sound orginal. Brilliant.

I claim Bugs Bunny is real.

And are you saying Bugs Bunny doesn't perform miracles? Have you SEEN him escape EVERY SINGLE TIME?

You aren't going to let it go, are you?

What would you say to the countless people who have never experienced anything but pain and sorrow? Tough luck?
Why should I say anything to them? Am I claiming to know the secrets of the universe, the key to happiness? Not at all, you are.

Indeed, when theists are asked about why God has allowed destruction, taking the Bible's world that justice will be served and those who have been hard done by will experience the freedom and happiness they deserve.

I'd like to know the atheistic perspective on this. What consolation do you for that boy that got raped by his father before being brutally mudered?
There is no consolation. There is no "reason" why that happened. It just happened. That's what life on this planet is like. Sometimes you suffer through no fault of your own. The best thing you can do is deal with the trauma and move on with your life. Because this is the only life you have. The final consolation is that most people are fortunate enough so that no matter how much they suffered they can still put together the pieces of their life.

Let me rephrase. What does atheism say to those who have been traumatized and have never been able to recover?

My point was this, the implications of atheism are tragic to a countless number of people. And since you are so compassionate and caring for those who suffer, you must also feel the sorrow of those who have seen no hope, no opportunity to put together the pieces of their life. Because to be quite honest, those are the people I truly feel for, the ones who could not control their fate but were destined to pain and misery.

When these people hear the message of God, they are moved, they are instilled with hope, and happiness. I am simply insinuating that the very religon you atheists cannot stand is the very thing, or even the only thing that gives these unfortunate people a reason to go on.

I don't understand why there is so much religious hate. And as I mentioned before, condemning the practice of religion because of what religious leaders have done is no different than condemning the the practice of medicine for a few fatal mistakes by doctors.

I thought you were referring to religious people now. Technically, at the time of christ they weren't religious people. Religion wasn't even born yet. However, yes they were responsible for religion, and conveying these messages obnoxiously were necessary as I mentioned earlier. Considering these religious people had first hand accounts with Jesus.
Are you saying that there were no religion before christianity? Because thats just not true.

Again, I claim Bugs Bunny is real. People claiming something means squat. Jesus may have existed, but that's about it. There is no reliable historical account of a man resurrecting from his tomb. If that's reliable, you have to believe every myth out there and that's just insane.

I used Bugs Bunny because it's a better analogy.

Atheism doesn't say anything, it's not an organization or philosophy.

What would I say to them? I would send them to a therapist to get their life in order instead of telling them fairy tales about ultimate justice and the afterlife. When you're suffering the most productive thing you can do is face up to it.

And you know what? People who have been victims of racism often go on to fight racism. People who have suffered from a disease often dedicate themselves to fighting that disease. Because THEY have seen how serious the problem is. That's what we can do in life, we can make a change to prevent the same suffering to others. Instead of telling ourselves fairy tales and doing nothing while we wait for salvation.

What did Neo do? Did he take the blue pill and go back to living inside the Matrix? No, he faced up to the sad reality and he gave himself to the cause of ending the war. If he hadn't done that the machines would have destroyed Zion and killed every free human alive.

I'll tell you why. Because religion treats all humans as helpless victims. Tell them a story and make them feel better. Instead of telling them the truth and helping them fight injustice.

There is reliable historical account for the resurrection of Jesus. You should research the subject more instead of just making personal claims like that. I have looked very thoroughly for reliable historical evidence for His resurrection and I cannot say I was anything less than satisfied.

I am not saying religion must be real to make world a better place. I am just defending religion and what it has done and is continuing to do for humanity. Enough with this stupid hate.

Dude, no. That's just not true. Reliable historical evidence would be video footage in this case. There's no true reliable historical evidence in general, let alone in this case. Most of your evidence is coming from people who believe in Jesus anyway.

And trust me, I'm going to be better at this than you.
