The U.S. "Office" has a big, cultish following. But I tried and really just couldn't get into it. It's sort of dead-pan, office politics dorkishness (a sort of Dilbert filtered through a funeral director) misses the humor mark too often and lands into just plain annoying.

Not nearly as annoying as Larry David's "Curb Your Enthusiasm", which along with "Sex In The City" threatened to make HBO the "annoying whining" comedy network. But still too often irritating rather than funny for me.

i tried watching the UK version of the office. couldn't understand what they were talking about.
as I see it the whole premise hinges on your willingness to be so damn bored that you find routine awkward situations at work to be hilarious. maybe it starts to be funny after 20 years in a cubicle eh

and no one does whining better than larry david

"Curb Your Enthusiasm" is just unwatchable for me. It's like a festering wound that seeps pus.

For some people, that's comedy. For me, I just want to strap on an explosive vest and take everybody out on the set.

Thank unspecified deities. For a while there, I thought there might be something wrong with me.

Really? I have no problems understanding them. But perhaps that's because I have to listen to British people talking a lot. It's an awesome show though.

"I'm not an atheist. I don't think I can call myself a pantheist. The problem involved is too vast for our limited minds. We are in the position of a little child entering a huge library filled with books in many languages. The child knows someone must have written those books. It does not know how. It does not understand the languages in which they are written. The child dimly suspects a mysterious order in the arrangement of the books but doesn't know what it is. That, it seems to me, is the attitude of even the most intelligent human being toward God. We see the universe marvelously arranged and obeying certain laws but only dimly understand these laws."
