What Car Do You Drive? (17 Viewers)

My dad has the 2015 rogue which is the American version of the qashqai.

it’s got a good awd system, looks nice, interior is pretty spacious.

does have some fit and finish issues. Paint started bubbling and chipping a long time ago and the headlights are very yellow. No issues with the drivetrain although he doesn’t drive it much.

I’d see if you can get your hands on a Mazda cx-5
The Mazda sadly same story as I’ll have to say against Seven, if I have to find one within my price range it will be with way to many km driven by the previous owner.

The design is the Nissan easily wins it from the Kia btw. I like it. What pushes my towards Nissan besides the design is that I could go for their Tekna line, so the one with the most options.

yeah that one

i joined the hungarian crv owners group on fb before we bought the petrol one for my stepdad and it's reassuring to see that there are only a very few recurring issues. they either post about replacing the crappy factory head units or dpf issues with the diesels. other than that, they look reliable. of course they aren't perfect, nothing is actually, but i think that these are easily among the safest picks for long term ownership.

used review from the same aussie channel:

Didn’t some searching list night, valid option aswel although it are mostly diesel cars and I need petrol. Diesel is taxed heavily here, I think it’s due to climate change. The amount of cars offered is quite limited, you don’t see that car that often here. I’ll do some more comparing in the coming days

I think they're both really ugly very generic cars.

You're right about the X1. If you have lots of money, an X5 is a great luxury SUV. The X1 is not that. It is expensive and unreliable while offering very little in terms of comfort and luxury.

Have you looked into Skoda? My first car was a Skoda Fabia, a family member of mine has a Skoda Karos and a coworker used to drive a Kodiaq. All three cars were great. They're not exactly pretty and they're quite basic, but they have everything you need in whatever class you're looking at.

I drove the Fabia to Calabria from Belgium by the way and if I'm honest I felt just as safe in it as in my Stelvio last year (though the Stelvio was quite a bit more fun).
I looked to both but within my price range I’d have to buy them with too many km driven. Especially the Skoda Kodiaq is really nice but damn so expensive here. I really have to manage my finances well, have to buy a house later this year otherwise it would be on my shortlist.

Thanks for responding all btw

If you're buying a house this, you really want to get the cheapest car possible.

Is there a reason you need an SUV?

You have very capable estates which can carry just as much stuff and people and are significantly cheaper.

I’m surprised a used CX-5 is that much more expensive than a comparably used Qaqshai, they’re the same category cars, at least here in the US.
I haven't driven either one, but the CX-5 is definitely the much better looking car. And it just looks more expensive to me too.

Qashqai's are everywhere here. As has already been said, they are very affordable in that category of car. Can't say I've ever been in one but if you're looking for a compact SUV to do a job for a couple of years then there's no point in overspending. The Ford Kuga is another one I see a fair amount around.

I saw a Lambo Urus today by my office. It was matte black. Sexy as fuck.
Where I live people are crazy about cars. And I mean crazy. Everyone drives a fucking Cayenne around here. And I'm really not sure they can all afford one.

I've seen the Urus in real life a couple of times now and I'm not sure what to make of it. Is it crazy enough to be a Lambo? Is it nice enough to be a luxury SUV? Their target audience is basically rich assholes though so I'm not sure any of it matters.

Then adding on taxes and price of fuel, I’m sure many of those peeps cannot afford those cars.
The other day someone was telling me about his brand new X5. Wouldn't say the exact amount, but did tell me it was over 100K.

Thing is he bought a house a few years back for 500K.

It's his money and he can do whatever he wants, but it strikes me as odd to own a car as expensive as 1/5 of your home.

But, as I said, Belgians really really care about cars. I think we are actually rather modest in most regards and this seems to be the national outlet.

That doesnt make sense to me either. I do love cars and I have a couple nice ones, but it’s still affordable for my budget. You won’t see me buying that Lamborghini Urus, though, as that is like 300k. If somehow I become a VP maybe things will change, but even then that’s way too much for a fucking car.

my god, that must’ve been top of the line and fully loaded for 100+k. Great car tho, I’d definitely consider it in the future as a family car

they drive much nicer and the interiors are classy, I’d call them premium cars but just below luxury.

but in the US, they’re on par with Nissan price wise

I bought the car today, will have it next week, really happy with it. It ticks all the boxes for me: spacious, safe, a lot of options, leather seats, panorama roof, not to many kilometers driven and just within my budget. Massive upgrade compared to my BMW 1 serie from 2007, the only option that car gave me is that it would break down a few times per year. It should even be a bit more economical to drive it, while better insurance and taxes together aren’t a lot more expensive compared to what I’m paying now.

congrats man.

here is what you should and shouldnt do:

never take your car through a car wash that uses brushes. use touch less car wash only or wash it yourself using microfiber towels.

if the car is in good condition consider applying a ppf to front of car to protect it from rock chips.

ceramic coating is recommended but not necessary. helps keep your car looking glossy and have that show room finish. but not necessary. you can buy bottle 100 dollars and do it yourself and it will last you 3-5 years of shine using one application.

invest in dash camera and keep it plugged in usb outlet. protect yourself from false claim accidents this way.

It's a Nissan Qashqai, not an Aston Martin.

Also, unfortunately any paint on any car will suffer from rock chips no matter what you try. In fact collectors sometimes specifically look for small damage like that to make sure the car hasn't been in a major accident.

some of us like to keep car paint looking good for longer. doesn't matter the kind. cheaper than replacing whole bumper or repainting.

well done PPF will protect your car very well. ask me how i know.

This is true but coating a car properly is a weekend job minimum lol

Honestly probably not. The biggest benefit would be that this way the paint is original.

And I sort of get it for a luxury vehicle. Or a collection piece. But it's just not worth the effort for a Nissan Qashqai that is going to be replaced by a fancier car down the line.
