You know how a lot of people get so wound up about their wedding day being special that they end up ruining it for themselves and not enjoying it? Sorta like that.
Way too much pressure put onto pleasing everybody and not ruining the day. Whole thing feels forced and fake to me.
Plus I got some traumatic memories attached to this time of year that always come back up when the Christmas music gets blasted everywhere.
That aside I'm not a grinch - hope everybody who's doing something has a fantastic day, myself included

It's not even so much the expense. It's the over-commercialization with the holiday, framing it as a make-or-break corporate profit-making season necessity for us to keep them all solvent for their fiscal year. Even down to the performative holiday greeting card business.
