this is why people use adblockers and abandon google:

1736102796367.png

my gf has a secondary phone number that she keeps around since 20+ years. she wanted to put some money on that prepaid card, googled the service provider's site, and automatically clicked the first (sponsored) link. she entered the amount (3000 huf, ~7-8 euro), and got a notification from her banking app to approve a payment of 1300 usd lol. then she told me to check what's going on. the first sponsored google search result is a phishing site that looks exactly like yettel's site. adblockers block it nicely.

if you check the ad it says that google has verified the advertiser's identity too. and that's the best part: they allow a phishing site to show up as a sponsored search result lol

Old phishing methods were easier to detect as they didn't start with SSL and HTTPS, instantly an alert was generated. New phishing web pages start with HTTPS and browsers would confirm the secure connection. We have an email server in the organization and we get hundreds of reports of potential phishing attack every week, there are false positives, for a variety of reasons, but sometimes there are false negatives and we can’t detect it. Users are easily trapped with just one click or social engineering.

@s4tch For some reason I can't quote posts (using Mac seems to be an issue lol). It was just a regular short trip since both girl and I had some days off plus it was her birthday so we decided to hit the road. I really loved it. It was recommended by many people that I know and honestly it's not that distant from my town, although the traffic and boarder with Hungary seems to be a pain in the ass all the time. But I really loved the city man. Plenty of great memories were gathered. We also went to visit Szentendre which has Serbian history behind it and it was a lovely place. It's gonna be great when they finish the railroad since it'll take like 2 hours to get to Budapest.

glad that you loved it. szentendre is cool too. next time try to visit visegrád, that's an other gem in the region

that railroad has an interesting back story. it was the chinese who drew the line for the rails lol. this way you won't be able to directly travel to szeged (which is an other nice city) from belgrade, just from szabadka/subotica. mindblowing planning

@Seven how are the things in Belgium? I mean, related to economics, stability, real estate and immigration. Oh and I'm just asking, not planning to move. I do have some relatives there but I feel more honesty will come from your end.
Economically I'd say pretty okay. There are jobs and median income is high. Belgians are among the richest people in the world. If you add in social security, I think some economists rank us in the top 5. Real estate is expensive, but cheaper here than in the Netherlands.

As for immigration I don't really know. I think it's fairly easy to come here and integrate if you have a job. If you come here without a job offer and without the necessary documents, I'm not sure it's the easiest place to live. One major issue I feel is the language, especially in the Dutch speaking part. We do speak Dutch, but the accent is thick and varies wildly from place to place. Sometimes it's almost a different language, like Neapolitan to Italian. You may learn standard Dutch and you will be able to express yourself, but it takes years to really understand the people around you.

Do you have any specific questions?

Just finished the first of 5 presentations I'm giving for PI Planning. The rest will be next week. Every single quarter it's just more and more work under the guise of "continuous improvement."

As an industrial engineer, continuous improvement in engineering in much different than continuous improvement in corporate which like you said, is just lingo for adding more work and projects.

It's the administrative formalities in IT leadership that can easily get annoying. Being in a 3 hour presentation on Friday, 6 hours worth of breakout sessions Monday, another 3 hour presentation Tuesday, and another 2 hour presentation Wednesday. It's just not efficient and agile.

Agile is the biggest scam on the face of the Earth.
