this is why people use adblockers and abandon google:
my gf has a secondary phone number that she keeps around since 20+ years. she wanted to put some money on that prepaid card, googled the service provider's site, and automatically clicked the first (sponsored) link. she entered the amount (3000 huf, ~7-8 euro), and got a notification from her banking app to approve a payment of 1300 usd lol. then she told me to check what's going on. the first sponsored google search result is a phishing site that looks exactly like yettel's site. adblockers block it nicely.
if you check the ad it says that google has verified the advertiser's identity too. and that's the best part: they allow a phishing site to show up as a sponsored search result lol
