Honestly I just don't. I've noticed my tolerance for it has gone way down. Like you mention, 3 drinks is enough to have a hangover. These days I don't drink at all most weeks.

I have the feeling we're at a tipping point. I don't know many teetotallers. But I know a lot of people who have started to drink considerably less. Part of that is getting older of course, but our cultural response towards alcohol seems to be changing as well. It's just not as acceptable to get hammered as it once was.

I hope so, personally I think this is a great thing and an overall net positive for society. From what I've read, younger generations also drink a lot less on average than older ones as well.

Alcohol is evil. Porn is evil. Weakness for or tolerance of either of em doesn't change that fact.

It doesn't change the inherent nature of these products. Evil is a strong word and it implies moral qualities. Alcohol doesn't have any moral. It's just a product. But a real case could be made to get rid of it for the good of society.

We pretend these things are fine, because only a minority of people face difficulties using these products.

Well, for starters it seems that fairly minimal use of alcohol puts you at a bigger risk for developing cancer. So maybe a safe threshold doesn't exist.

And then we say those people who abuse these products or weak. As if they lack the willpower to use them sensibly. But we know some people are biologically more susceptible to developing addiction. It's pretty easy to describe someone as weak, when it might be 10x more difficult for that person for biological reasons to refrain from alcohol than it is for me.

And even if there is an element of willpower, does it matter? I mean, it's still a strain on our healthcare system. A drunk driver might still kill you or your kid. Yeah, you could blame him and his weak character. But it doesn't mean these things don't happen anymore. They still do. So maybe it's just for the good of everyone to get rid of it.

I learned about ‘body positivity’ just recently, those social media influencers saying that it’s okay to be fat and stuff, while digesting a bunch of shit.
