For some reason I always pictured Upstate New York as supremely comfy, especially in fall. Always Indian Summer comes to mind but I dunno if it's actually that pronounced over there. Hiking, fishing, weekends in lake cabins. Slow and comfortable. Stuff like that.

Yep. March and April are the worst. At least in Jan and Feb you expect the weather to be bad, so you’re mentally prepared for it. But when it doesn’t really improve even in late March-early April, that’s when it really takes a toll on you.

So I’m in a medical waiting area for a routine doctor’s appointment. Some woman in her 60s across from me has her smartphone go off every so often to the sound of a Geiger counter.

Personally, I don’t mind hot weather as much as very cold weather. When we had the deep freeze here in Feb this year, it was -20°C outside. We had no electricity and no water. My memory foam mattress actually shrunk and hardened. Had to sleep with 3 quilts and still shivered. Then again, we were totally unprepared for this. Gov Abbott was slammed and he blamed it on the wind mills.
