It's so fucking expensive here in Finland. You pay taxes when you buy it, you pay taxes for using it (yes, this is true) and of course taking care of it is expensive too. You don't have to worry any of those things if you drive company's car.

Owning a car in this communist country have been made indeed a pain in the ass.
You mean in this capitalist country with the kind of social welfare programs the Muricans are drooling over at the moment.

Yeah but where did that come from.

Also, not true in every instance. In some cities it's prolly less cumbersome not owning a car.

Where I live you defo need one though.
I dont even have a drivers license. Ride a bike and enjoy life.

40k€ cuckbox with a top speed of 150 kph and a range of 160km :shifty:

Big fan of EVs but usable ones, with proper engines and ranges (like the Model S) are still very expensive. In ICE world that kind of money buys you a real nice middle class sedan that doesnt fall apart if you are trying to overtake a Ford Transit.
EVs have instant max torque. Overtaking most cars isn't a problem.

They don't have an engine, they've a motor.

Leaf's range is 243 km, costs 30k. Plus model's range is 364 km, costs 40k. But yeah, they're not ideal for road trips.

Must be nice being able to go over 150 kph on the Autobahn.

Yes this is among the features I love about EVs. However it's irrelevant when the plumber's van you want to overtake goes faster than your top speed

Semantics

In Murica prices are excluding taxes.

Also I forgot to say that Leaf got a high drag coefficient. It's identical with Audi e-tron that looks like a car while Leaf looks like an egg. Tesla is miles ahead still.

Plumbers vans typically don't go at top speed on race tracks

this. i commute ~110 km 2-4 times weekly. gimme an ev that rivals a proper ice car for that kind of usage and wouldn't cost 50k € like a used tesla.
plug in hybrid fusion is great for that. Use electric in the city and gas at a superior efficiency for longer commutes

thing is that we don't get the fusion (aka mondeo) with the same powertrain in europe. the fusion currently has a hybrid and a plug-in hybrid version in the us, and only the hybrid, a "simple" toyota licensed non-plug-in version with very limited electric range is available here. and honestly, it makes no sense over my car, which has a range of 8-900 km and consumes around 6 l/100km (39 mpg). that's exactly the same economy that a local car site measured in their real life test for the mondeo non-plug-in hybrid...

also, a new mondeo hybrid costs 12 millions of local money here, which is half/third of an apartment's price here. honestly, i'd rather keep my current old car until it's still cheap to run, and buy an other real estate besides the existing ones in the family as an investment instead of a new car that loses 50% of its value in 3 years.

the most environmental friendly thing is to hold on to your car for as long as possible. So you’re already doing more for the environment than someone who get a new fuel efficient car every three years

This 100%

Drive your car into the ground, and then go electric. Best thing for the environment by far. Over-consumption is the big problem.
