Only thing more annoying than her is her teeny fanbase, and their at best superficial cringe knowledge.
You do realize that Greta didn't make Greta. Everyone else made Greta. We humans are a strange lot. We espouse causes. But because people and causes are complex, we try to simply things and personify all that complexity into a single individual. We love the cult of personality, even if humans are fallible and will always disappoint us -- never living up to our ideals.
In business we see this with Elon Musk and Steve Jobs worship. And the environmentals chose to embody it in a 16 year old girl. Did anyone ever bother to ask why? For one, she's in a better position to claim innocence of the damage done than more compliant adults. (Even though the single individual will always let a cause down.) For another she represents more of the future of society, and consuming the earth's resources at 1.5x the earth's capacity is a losing game for future generations at this trajectory.
So this is what you get. Who Greta is doesn't even matter anymore. She's a totem figurehead to represent the ideals of a group. Does that mean she's evil? No. Does that mean she speaks for the world? Only with the world's permission. So I don't get all the hangups people have about her. It's like nobody can think for two seconds without looking at their phones anymore, so we oversimplify and reduce our own logical brains to missing the difference between who this girl is and what people want her to represent.
You Americans only know her for a day since she came over the pond to give a random speech, she has been terrorizing my country for a year already and she is responsible basically for another upcoming wave of taxes and bans for end-consumers, while the lower class is hit the hardest. Germans are gullible retards that love to follow a leader with simple solutions for fabricated problems, based on fantasy assumptions such as Germany being a major contributor of the climate change. So while Indians shit out coal-fired power stations, Chinese drown in smog, Muricans are world leaders in fracking, the fucking germans let their children skip school on Fridays to shove down 35000€ electric cuckboxes down a blue collar worker's throat while their moms keep their SUV. It's only a matter of time till certain political forces will return. I hate current Zeitgeist.
She's not responsible for any of that. Who died and made her Pope? No, you're confusing what she represents for people with the person itself. She's a figurehead, a useful tool, a human construct ... all hoisted on a very human 16-year-old girl with Asperger's in the middle of all that. If you cannot see that, there's no hope for you.
terrorizing? Lol a 16 year old girl has been terrorizing your country. Where do you live? Alice’s wonderland?
she’s passionate about the climate and rightfully so. She’s got the future in mind and hopefully so do many others, that’s not something to look down upon, it’s something to embrace

The resentment is real and deep. I haven't fully gotten my head around it. I think part of it is nobody wants to be lectured by a 16-year-old girl. That's kind of insulting in some contexts, and highly emasculating in other contexts. Which explains the over-the-top reactions to her. But then who wants to be lectured by a 75-year-old white dude either, really?
Then there's the commentary about her being a puppet of dark forces. And then there's the ridiculous hypocrisy traps of "She uses a flush toilet, so therefore she's a hypocrite!" That's just fearful amateur logic right there.
So yes, there's a real resentment around youth probably. And an additional resentment for her gender too. Which explains the apoplectic reactions that AOC gets in the US by conservatives. A freshman representative with a lot of Twitter followers and virtually no political followers in government is treated like an overly powerful anti-Christ. So much so there are political ads out where she's demonized, and she's not even running for office. And yet her political immaturity is apparent in spades. She freaks out wanting to impeach Trump on a daily basis, while a much more politically shrewd expert with a long game like Nancy Pelosi tones down the impeachment rhetoric, plays dead, and all the while awaits for the right opportunity, times it relative to hearing lengths and election cycles, thinks of timing how it would thwart someone like Mike Pence from taking office in place of Trump, etc.
Oh my god... Pelosi is so politically schooling the likes of AOC with a masterclass of politics, and yet all the demonization and fear is around the bouncing AOC puppy in the corner. People don't think deeply enough about where power and strategy and political impact comes from because they're so easily goaded by the shiny new thing on the block.
I genuinely feel sorry for Greta as her antifa parents broke her little soul and scared her to bits which is probably not any less destructive as being sexually abused as a child. I just want to know where the fuck greens and leftists take the arrogance from to believe that the earth can be destroyed by something as short-lived as mankind. Oh noez, in 50 years the ice caps will melt. Yea well, in a million and 50 years Africa will freeze, in 10 million and 50 years the Mount Everest will be a valley and so on. The planet will be fine. All that climate nazis want is having the power and control over people, giving orders, handing out bans while maintaining the moral highground and pointing fingers.
The earth will be just fine. We can blow our own selves up with nukes or climate change, and we're just a speed bump on the evolutionary scale of the earth. It will be fine no matter what idiocy we do.
What won't be fine is humanity itself though. Yes, your property will still survive if you remove your toilet and decide to crap in the middle of your kitchen for as long as you can. Nature will be fine with that. But the likelihood of pleasant human habitation goes away in the heartbeat. What we are talking about is merely self-harm to humanity, not so much harm to the planet, as it certainly won't be in any long term way.
Climate has been a major issue within the scientific community for 30 plus years. No one has really done much since we all agreed it was a problem back in 1992.
You don’t actually have to listen to Greta’s speeches. I haven’t listened to a single one.
Yep. Old news. And the facts are piling up exactly as largely projected.
I haven't listened to any of her speeches either. To be honest, no need. She isn't telling me anything I don't already know.
How much emission did that boat emit? Anyway I find it hilarious some German girl can lecture US congress about climate change while China and India caused twice as much. I'd like to see her talk down to the Chinese govt in their Congress, let's see how that goes?
You're talking like a Tuzzer. Like every whiner who says they should get away with making a racist rant because some other Tuz member got away with it once in recent months without a ban. Because OJ Simpson got off for murdering his wife, I should be able to shoot someone in the head and not face the consequences. That kind of idiocy.
You do realize that when you are in traffic and complain about the traffic, you ARE the traffic, right?? Do you have zero sense of personal responsibility, or is all conditional because someone might have an ounce more responsibility than you so that you are entitled to do nothing?
They may not want to commit but the clean technology is developing fast and they will not want to be left behind.
Electric cars and clean energy are becoming cheaper and cheaper every day. Next is circular economy which I expect to be implemented faster in Europe as USA is too far behind in this aspect.

New technology is a lie. It's part of the solution, but humans stupidly want the diet pill that can instantly make them lose weight while they can maintain eating 5 pizzas a day. That ain't real. Because take a technology like nuclear energy ... it took 20 years to roll it out at scale given all the infrastructure. New technology is a crutch, and what do you do in the 20 years you wait for it to become ubiquitous? It's not like a mobile phone app you can simply deploy as software and everyone suddenly has instant alternative energy and all the fossil fuel infrastructure can shut down tomorrow.
My tax dollars drone strike brown people. Am I a hypocrite for not fiirebombing the nearest mosque?

You've learned well.
Are people getting triggered by a 16 year old?
People who consider themselves to be macho and alpha. Lol. What a bunch of pathetic wimps.
It's a cop out, really. It's just resenting the superficial trappings and allowing them to deny anything of substance or hard questions to answer.
Incredibly beautiful state though.
True dat.
That’s more of a Latinx thing
