sure they're not the only factor and probably not all of them are rotten at the core, but I'd rather not work for a big pharma company, just like I wouldn't like to work for a gambling company or short term loaner with an aggressive marketing campaign.

My girlfriend works for Johnson and Johnson. She mostly runs experiments with new drugs, some of it animal testing. Mostly she's in the lab though. The pay and benefits she gets are crazy. I'd really recommend working in big pharma.
And sure, pharmaceutical companies can be a bit thuggish at times. In the end however they still develop life saving drugs and they aim at getting them on the market at an affordable price (otherwise their business model just wouldn't work).

Dude, what? The sheer number of lives saved by big pharma indicate that at the very least they are more a force of good than evil in the world.
saving lives and improving health condition is part of their job description though, would be very sad if all the billions spent in developing drugs had no end product 
take a look at Johnson and Johnson, their employees and shareholders are very well off, their profit in 2017 was 16.3 billion dollars (around 1/4 of their revenue) and I'm sure you have your own objections towards their business model when you say they're in part a force of evil. it's not illegal, but there are big moral dilemmas here, I find it very sad that a drug selling company is among the most profitable in the world.

You find it sad that saving lives is one of the most profitable things you can do in this world? Personally I find it sad that selling worthless mortgages makes people billions.
Sure, Johnson and Johnson could afford to make less money. But there are companies out there that are a whole lot worse.

I agree completely.
Just so we're clear though, I do think we should hold these companies accountable for their behaviour. Johnson and Johnson for example often strong-arm Belgium in getting tax benefits because they know they are an important employer here. It's understandable behaviour, but it isn't right.
