Oddly, they are one of the few not in the direct business of scamming on individual's personal information. At least as much as Google or Facebook. Which does explain a little of why there's such a price discount on Android devices.

In return they are in various other awful businesses. Like locking users into their ecosystem.

It's a smorgasbord of awful out there, lesser of evils is hard to even locate.

on a related note

had a debate with a guy who was criticizing Canadian government because of spying on citizens. i told him it was weird because they probably do less spying than the info he gives out willingly.

facebook, twitter, Instagram with all your pics and life details on it? check

use credit cards to pay for purchases? check

online browsing and cookies? check

told him government doesnt need to hack his computer or listen in on his phone calls when most of his life is willingly put out to display. lol
