Girlfriend may never play football again, due to a congenital ankle problem. She's currently playing at the highest level in Belgium, so I'm hoping something can be done about it..

Why can't she play anymore? Hasn't she been playing with it for as long as she's been playing football?

She has tarsal coalition. It can be asymptomatic for a long time and the initial symptoms are often mistaken for simple ankle sprains (as was the case here). She will now probably undergo surgery and will be out for an entire year at least.

Damn, that sucks. Hope she comes back from it.

Trying to explain hotlanta.:sergio:
I always called it "Mylanta".

In 16 hours, I'll be off on my vacation.

Watch out, America!
We will be sure to lock up our women.

Congenital ankle problem... that's messed up. Sorry to hear that.

Thanks. She's pretty down about it and in fact I am too. I just hope the surgery goes well and doesn't end up making things worse.
If football isn't going to be in her future cards (she could probably take care of yourself but you never know about her tacklers), fortunately that isn't the end of the world if she recovers with her health in tact. Should something like that happen, she may end up needing a new sports outlet that's less risk to her ankles -- which is totally doable. Just sucks to have to.

I think in a sense it would have been worse for me. She used to excel at gymnastics and likes plenty of other sports. Me, I just love playing football. Can't imagine doing anything else really.
