There's a difference between what I would selfishly like, and what is the best model. Of course I'd like to work for 30hrs a week, but thats a pipe dream, because most probably productivity would go down.
They said the same about the 40h work week a couple of decades ago :p

Also, the countries with the least working hours per week in the OECD are the Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland. (https://stats.oecd.org/Index.aspx?DataSetCode=ANHRS)

Not exactly countries where you'd say that productivity was low.

Perhaps we've been indoctrinated by society into wanting to be able to buy things, i just don't think I'd be able to do what your grandad did.
things you dont need. :agree:

i could totally do it.

not a new iphone every year only because it is new...

I suppose I don't.

Have you lived your entire life in Sweden?
Nope, left Somalia as 8-9 year old, came here 20 years ago when I was 11 (pitstops at Yemen and Ethiopia ). Half my family and many other relatives were here (before war too).

Other main country of refuge would have been the US (several relatives there), as a kid was kinda glad it didn't turn out that way , because was during WC 94 and the US sucked while the Swedes were the underdog heroes with hip celebrations :D

It shouldn't be really. Was ok most times, but even at a young age the extreme tribalism and some of the practices was like wut (for someone who escaped from a war between clans), dagger wielding adult men and mob justices at times .

Remember once our school got shut down for a while because a little girl was beheaded. First peeps thought it was a serial rapist killer, but a decade later heard from someone older tjrn me it turned out to be about crazy feuding clans.
