The influx of people here since the 1989 quake are so soft. They hardly know what's coming.

I was staying up with some friends in St. Helena, in the wine country where the quake was mostly centered. People are like "that was big!" And I'm thinking "meh". :pado:

It could have been once, and now collapsed in a valley. Half of Main St. here is still without power, so I'm in an Italien-styled (by way of New Jersey) coffee bar getting some morning espresso while watching Saint-Étienne-Rennes on the big screen. :coffee:

Tahiti is one of my must see places. Hopefully there are some waves down at Virginia Beach this week.
The same for me. Tahiti looks incredible, even disregarding the surf. Those mountain rainforests look amazing. :tuttosport:

You surf down at Virginia Beach often? That's just south of the mouth of Chesapeake?

I was out surfing by Tofino today, but pretty bad knee-to-waist high stuff.

Right, more towards the south of Va Beach called Sandbridge. Decent waves there, usually waist to chest high. But with this hurricane coming offshore we might get some head high sets, and that's good enough for me.

Where is Tofino?

Nice. Head high is great. Chest high to just overhead is what I find enjoyable. Anything bigger and it's far too much work paddling, besides the terror aspect of trying to paddle into massive waves. I hope you get some great waves over the next week.

Tofino is on the west side of Vancouver Island, about halfway up the island, nice and exposed to the Pacific. Mostly beach break, with a couple point breaks, but the sandbars can form up pretty good and create some nice waves. Cold water though. Even in summer a 4mil wetsuit is pretty much necessary.

I have absolutely no clue about surfing, but it looks like good fun. I wonder how many times you need to be smashed by those waves before you actually pull it off, though.
