Some said Persuasion is the fav, but almost all gushed over P&P, felt sorry for Fanny in Mansfield or quite amused by Emma.

This was long time ago though in Uni days, rare to heard much mentions of persuasion or NA.

Everyone loves Wentworth. Be more original. :p

Go for someone like Janos Valushka from "The Melancholy of Resistance" instead.

Everyone loves P&P, I think :)

Voeller, Emma's the worst! To me, anyway. I find her so irritating I could barely finish the novel.

Truth be told, the closest I've perhaps ever came to being a gay man was often getting in social gatherings of all girls where I was the only guy.

I'm not saying I was making tea for Clyde Frog or anything, but being surrounded by pretty girls doing "girlish" things at times has its appeals. It's the only way I can tolerate Jane Austin, for one. ;)
A Jane Austen slumber party with all the gals here it is then. :p But seriously though, my hobbies are the least feminine that you can find, but I am drawn to these for some reason. At least we're getting Dusan to watch one. :D

That is not entirely true. I was not in love with him. Darcy is my man. But then I supposed the same could be said of him...

@Kate, Emma is pretty shallow. She made me want to slap her at times. But then she reminded me that I could be shallow and immature at times too. *sigh*

Brilliant... Well, if his spiralling coils of rather hypnotic prose don't drive you mad. Some of his sentences go on for pages. The film version, Werckmeister Harmonies, is one of the best adaptations of a book I've ever seen.
Cool :) Thank you for the recommendation.

Emma is Jane at her most audicious and most serious in writing IMO, even if its was more of a somewhat wicked comedy mostly. You dont have to like/identify with the character to like the book. Bit of sarcastic and somewhat trollish work of hers hehe.

P.S Cant stand the movie adaption of it, so I get if ppl dislike it for that.

What am I doing right now?

@Dru @Enron @swag @X @Hustini @ALC

I am working in my home office, I have the TV on the MLB Network, fixated on today's trade deadline wondering who the Dodgers are going to get.

What the hell is wrong with me

Oh, and @Hustini

:howler:

I love it when you have 6 people crowded around one outlet getting all twitchy to get the next outlet like a bunch of girls trying to use the restrooms at an N'Sync concert.
Man, I don't even wanna think about MLB. Phillies don't seem to be doing anything to improve in the near future. Or any future for that matter.

Preparing to head out to watch Real Sociedad v Aberdeen.

Starting to get fairly tense after feeling pretty good about the game through most of the week.

I actually liked Emma and I rate it as my 2nd favourite Austen thus far. Perhaps because her bratty ways and her ability to see the world in a somewhat self involving manner can mirror my own attitude at times, I could identify with her a bit, hence why I didn't mind it. But I think by far my favourite heroine is Elizabeth Bennet. She could be naive at times but I like her wit and charm.

Going to check this out when I have some time.

Emma is my second favourite too. Austen's most comic, and caustic for that matter, work. Emma is just so infuriating and yet so charming at the same time. Such delusions of grandeur. The 2009 BBC miniseries adaptation with Romola Garai was quite good.

Olga Tokarczuk's Primeval and Other Times is far and away the best book I've read in the last year. She's a brilliant writer. If you're looking for recommendations. :)

I feel the same. Looks like the 'stros are going to trade away pitching. They have 3 young guys that are looking to be getting their shit together. Might as well hold on to them and add bats in free agency. We may be the worst team in baseball, but our pitching is decent. Just need our best bat not to be a 23 year old rookie.
