so lemme get this straight, giving up more of your money will make you richer?
As an individual not, if every individual in the society does it to enable the providence of services aiding the whole community which wouldn't exist otherwise (merit goods), then yes, it absolutely does make you richer.

how can i be serious when the counterargument to less income taxation is that taxes prop up the economy and encourage growth.
Since when is that the only counterargument. Now, Im not a rawlsian disciple, but I do believe that we as a society are only as good as we treat the weakest. This doesnt need to be through welfare, it can be through equal opportunity. Needless to say my family and myself benefitted greatly from a system like this and it is simply impossible without a redistributive taxation.

Don't bother, they have no comeback to that one. They think the real world revolves around what Keynesian professors have to say in lectures. They don't believe the Bible has any merit, yet they use Keynesian textbooks as Bible in all discussion. They've never analyzed economics through the real world applications because they don't live in the real world.

Well, for one I know of a few congressmen with sons in the military. For another, this isn't anything new and not something that just appeared with Obama.
There aren't many, that's for sure. And just because Bush did it doesn't make it right.

The government hates the troops, that is why they send them to endless wars and then treat them like animals in the VA system.

You think economic growth is based totally on government spending. The government doesn't create anything, it only takes and spends, i.e. it's not real growth. You can't tax people and print money endlessly without repercussions, and you also can't think of all countries as homogeneous in nature. That is why the Euro is a flawed currency.
