Well, for one I know of a few congressmen with sons in the military. For another, this isn't anything new and not something that just appeared with Obama.

If we (Indians) are working for a company abroad, we don't need to pay taxes in India. We just have to pay taxes in that country according to the laws there. I find it odd that you have to pay taxes in two countries on income.

In a sane world you wouldn't pay income tax on the same income in two different countries. But they may ask you for some kind of proof that you paid taxes in the other one.

no the state doesnt increase those, and even if it did those are spending driven, basic utilities/necessities are taxed at a very low rate or not taxed at all
