Well, noone learns languages in school, that's a basic premise. If you're going to learn a language properly you have to want to do it outside of school. B1 is a great start, means you have a good base in the language. But in 9 years of time you could reach C2 (or more) no problem if you were into the language.

I spent about 3.5 years studying languages as the main occupation I did in my free time. That adds up to a lot of hours.
Where do you start then?
