    Geansaí is the irish term from Jumper, which is a non-buttoned, hoodless item of clothing worn for warmth and put on over the head. American English differentiates more than that, and as usual, is the stupider way to talk about such things.
    American English is very simple minded, dumbed down. Coming from a language that is far more cultured, like Polish, it's disturbing how far it goes.

    Alas it's the only variant of English that sounds remotely sane in speech.

    I actually think American English can be one of the most rich languages out there. there's so many words and combinations you can come up with to describe something. granted, i don't know polish.
