Yeah, you really have to think and coordinate your actions. It's a pretty good geography lesson, too. I was Russia/Pacific Commonwealth/China and got really buttfucked in the beginning because my ally, the guy who was playing American, didn't buy transporting ships in time so he couldn't open Gibraltar. This is just one of the examples of how you can screw yourself if you're just a bit careless.
