True, but it seems like most in my generation will never come to that point considering they take the easy way out of everything. The people I work with have no work ethic whatsoever.

Probably a reaction to the previous generation. They've seen what happens to people who go head-first into work, watching their marriages and families implode around them, watching them turn into pale, fat slobs who never leave the house, turning into slaves to their bank accounts.

It's likely an over-reaction if anything -- not unlike the current generation of Japanese who are about as anti-consumer as they come after watching their parents blow their wads and collapse in two decades of recession.

I would argue that it's about being spoiled and having the "I deserve this" mentality. The parents made a ton of money in the housing market, the kids don't want to work, and everyone knows that the government will supposedly bail them out.

Depends on how successful the parents are, but that sounds like classic second generation stuff. Those parents would be wise to give their kids zero inheritance so they actually make something of themselves.
