I just learned that I was not "technically qualified" for the job I just got but the very good news is that they will still keep me and will still pay the same amount that we agreed upon. I thought I was about to lose my job before I even started!

The drinking culture here is pretty bad, actually. Meaning, a lot of people drink. The reason, I believe, is state regulations on the matter. Since the 50s, there has been very strict regulations on what kind of alcohol you are allowed to buy in stores, and at which hours you can buy them, and it has resulted in a pretty vulgar drinking culture. Instead of enjoying a few beers and glasses of wine, there's a wide tendency in Norway to go binge drinking.

The reason for the high pricing is just that the Norwegian economy is really strong, and we have very high wages.
Welcome to Australia.

Although the regulations aren't that tough here, you can't buy anything if you're intoxicated and places need another licence to sell alcohol past midnight I think and some of those last only until 3-4am.

And taxes here on alcohol are probably way higher.

But I can guarantee our binge drinking culture >>>>>>>>>> yours
